Haha maybe. But I'd never let her go I don't think. I get some crazy smash angles on this thing. More than with any other racket I own. I do sometimes wonder if that extra 3-4mm of length helps. In any case, can't wait to compare with the VT80 tomorrow!
Naim, how come your MX80 3U is much lighter than mine? Mine is 98g 4U including string and grip; string is yonex nanogy 95, overgrip toalson ion power
Thank you for the review.. victor MX80 is longer what does than V80 but how would it affect the rackets performance?
well in physics Force = mv^2/r The weight difference between the rackets are small so it doesn't really affect the equation, so if swung at the same speed, a racket with a shorter shaft length should theoretically give more force.
This is true, however I feel extra length gives you more reach and better smash angles. I think lol. I will test my theory further later tonight.
Keeping in mind of course that even though r is getting smaller, v is getting higher the farther out you are.
Naim You only use 2g of super grap overgrip?! Each full length is ~4.7g, so that means you're using less than half the length to grip? I suppose you don't overlap much? Your mx80 net wt sounds about right at 86.2g after taking off 3g for strings. My 3u is 85.3g net.
I overlap very little. My ridges are around 3-5mm. At max 5mm. I feel like the thicker the ridge, or the larger the overlap, the less you can actually feel the ridges. And imo the ridges add to the feeling of grip, so I like to know they're there. Anyway, MX80 is definitely my hero racket for now lol. Till a head heavier MX comes out anyway.
Naim.FC, can I ask what level of player you are? Beginner? Intermediate? Advanced? Are you ranked in your country etc? Thanks.
No no not ranked or any such thing. Just play for fun really. I'd say I was intermediate now if anything. Have improved a lot in the last few months but still well off league level.
power: About the same. Z-Slash may smash a little harder due to it being more HH and flexible control: MX80 by about a lightyear. The frame is super stable and the torsional stability is better than even my tc700 speed: About the same. MX80 may be a little faster defense: No contest. Z-Slash sucks at defense net: MX80 by about 20miles. Z-Slash is fast enough but the HH and flex takes away delicate touch. MX80 is really easy to control at net. stiffness: Z-Slash is a wet noodle when swung fast. MX80 holds its shaft well. bp: Z-Slash is head heavy while mx80 is only very slightly HH
Bro, thank for ur kindness Wow I m surprise a thin shaft n frame like zslash can loose out to mx80 in net, speed n defense... Shaft is longer for slash compare to mx80? Ur mx80 was lighter n stiffer to ur tc700?
I think the problem with Yonex design is that they assume the thinness of a frame or shaft is the thing that grants most speed and maneuverability, when in-fact I'd argue aside from the obvious differences in racket balance, a bigger difference actually comes from the aerodynamics of the frame itself. This is where Victor excel since often they do not use traditional frame shapes.
Yonex is the only racket company that I know of that actually publishes Airflow Modelling, though. Have a look through the Z-Slash thread (and section of the Yonex website) and you'll see pictures of it. I've never sen this sort of information from Victor.
