Based on my observation, his overall movements is good but in G2, it was slow and sluggish for some reason. And the biggest weakness is always the lift. He is not LCW, so why keep lifting so weak? Every time he lifts, it is always so short, like 2/4 court. SHR could kill it easily had he calmed down a little.

Overall, above average. Interested to see whether he can take at least a game from Axelsen.

Congrats, Ng Tze Yong! Beating Axelsen is one of the most biggest achievement you can get these days.
As I said, he has a lot of potential as a world beater. May he trains more and more!

His game is going good against attacking player but he is struggling against rally type players. He will be a spent force

Yeah, NTY not really good against those kind of players, including Naraoka and Sen. Keep grinding him in long rallies and he's gone.

That's why, he deliberately give away game 2 most of the time, if you have noticed his matches you could understand. He need to build his physic well..I like him. Calm demeanour. LZJ is showoff type.

    Congrat! Congrat!

I don't believe what Malaysia fans said about him (talent, upper star,...)

Until I watched him playing today.

I was going to post my pic with him last year, but it went over the size limit. I only just noticed that in the photo he is holding a white carry bag with his name in large letters. Did he have this specially made, or do tournaments give players goodie bags with their names on it?

Badminton Asia Championship result is a clear disappointment. I feel like he is playing without using any ounce of thinking skill. What is the use of lifting so short that even a kid could smash it? Defensive skill is so poor that any opponent smash can 1 turn kill. Never train his hand or something? Where is any type of attacking shots? Lack of any or slight improvement on his shot quality is what disappoints me the most.

I always felt that he is an undernourished and physically weak. His lunging is a drawback. His defense is weak because he does not want to dive.

Seems to me in his first game ..his mental strength have really improved. It was strong before,it's stronger yesterday in the current 2023 world championship. I hope this continues. We all know...he could be a completely different player in the next game

He played solidly against Zhao Junpeng, although a bit stiff. To me, he is still hesitating on some shots, especially clears. But this is still a clear improvement when compared to early this year.

To be fair, it was hard to judge the back line to keep it accurate. Zhao had some problems as well.

NTZ is still lacking in speed & stamina
He should be more aggressive in his attacking
He needs to step up his game if he wants to reach the top 10 rank
If not, he will get nowhere & stuck in the early round

Agreed. To honest, his stamina is very good since his movement is overall efficient.
But his attack and finishing touches are so underwhelming.
When it is time to attack and put pressure on the opponent, he would rather lift and lift.
Be more aggressive, take more initiative, control the rally.
Not to mention the indecisiveness when guessing opponent's clear.

I am so frustrated when he lift even there is a good opportunity to smash to end the rally
Once the opponent step up & attack him, he is a gone case
He gets more tired the longer time he play on court
Eventually end up losing his next match
His coach should help him to develop his attacking play
Lol they should get DLCW to train in BAM with him occasionally:D:D

    Indeed.
If I am am BAM coach, I will teach all trainee to attack 100%.
    Keep up with the trend.
Defensive game is utterly useless these days.

NTY likes to play defensive game
But sometime his defence is not that good:confused:
Kunlavut Vitidsarn & Kodai has better defence than him
I guess another early elimination in China Open
He will meet Prannoy & Vitidsarn :D
