You want me to introduce you to our young man? Yes he is very young (to me at least) but he is in his third year varsity Chemistry course. He is such a wonderful guy, polite, helpful and kept his promise to visit us in our hotel at 8 am on our departure day just to get our missing autographs, since he already got those of the other BC 'stars'. Want to know some more?
Concur on the shortness of stay.. ........your sharing makes me giggle... Yes, a few days is definitely too short... Concur also about what Loh wrote about Beijing's real "inner city"... Loh (and other BCers who went with us), please post more of your pics!!
My dear Chongwei, I'm sorry to disappoint you. The venue people were very, very strict. I'd been bodily searched and handled by them to see whether I was hiding any dangerous stuff. Luckily one of them was a lady and she couldn't exercise her powers too much. They confiscated my tripod and only Chris was able to take it back from them later. I dared not carry it to the stadium again since then. As a result I did not take any meaningful court pics. I also missed the official gathering and the baddy get-together because of my tight schedule planned by the tour agency. But I managed to take some other pics which I will post selectively.
hcyong, what do you expect? An old man always takes his time ..... Even in JB, Loh went to take pics all around the Resort before we could checkout, have quick lunch and go to ABC championships final. And the previous night, he took ages to post pics .....
If I don't take time to take pics we'll have nothing to see! Then you guys will not know how hcyong and Li De Quan will look like. What are the places we've visited? Actually I'm surprised that nobody posts any pics before me! And you say I'm slow, hahaha! Do you want to know the faces of the other guys or not?
Of course, of course.. ..they're all waiting for you to post the pics lah, first, Loh. Then, once they're posted, they'll follow suit lah!! Btw, the last pic of the souvenir is very nice (price-wise as well). I went back and checked out the price of that souvenir (all coins symbolizing the different events) and i understand the power of stocks...
^^Off topic-He..^^ ..Cheung and red00ecstrat were the first 3 people i contacted. I'm trying to get myself lost & confused in HK, first. That's the only way i'll learn my way around HK. It's beautiful here, tonight (i mean the place/city)..food galore all over the place......and i'm sure kwun can't wait to get his feet back to his hometown soon...
Yes, I have. In Beijing alone, I gained 1.5 kg in 5 days. I'm masochistically looking forward to my lose-weight sessions.
Meeting up with Kevin and Jason I last met Kevin during the Melbourne Commonwealth Games but not Jason, his roommate and BC member under the nickname "Smash_1". So it was great to meet them at the badminton venue for the morning session at Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium (BJUT). Somehow the construction of BJUT is not spectator-friendly as the stairs leading up to the seats in the gallery above channel spectators from floor level upwards and this incessant movement blocks or interferes with the view of those already seated. It has been most irritating! When the matches ended, we proceeded to the "Old Beijing" Restaurant for lunch. Yong placed orders for 4 dishes apart from our individual bowl of noodles which had to be mixed with a special dark sauce, something which Jason and Kevin were not quite used to. Out of the 4 dishes, Jason and Kevin took the safe course of partaking only the lamb and the chicken leaving the "cow stomach" to Yong and myself. The other dish of mash beans, I think, was largely left untouched. On our first evening on August 12, where we met the rest of the BC gang at BJUT, Yong and I ventured into a Korean restaurant to try their hot plate speciality. We chose lamb and pork with buns and quite enjoyed it. Here are some pics of our mini get-togethers as well as those of the matches we watched.
I like noodles very much...especially beef noodles...but I have no chance to visit China yet...I plan to go Suzhou/Hangzhou....any nice food there?
Wangfujing A popular spot for both locals and tourists alike. Modern, spacious and full of facilities, it is liken to Singapore's Orchard Road. We got most of our souvenirs from the Dongan Department Store and seven of us, including Tarek's (Syaoran Style) friend, Leslie from France, took supper at the Food Republic, possibly a Singaporean outfit with the same name, when the stalls were about to close.
