Thanks for starting this, I actually came here to see if there was a thread on him but found none, so posted on the other one instead, although I mainly watch Chinese player, he’s got a new fan in me.
Yes, been YouTubing Pryanshu’s recent matches, although he was beaten by Mithun Manjunath and Lakshya Sen, he does show promise, once he ups his fitness and hone his skills, let’s hope he gets good coaching to go forward. What’s happening with Lakshya Sen is strange, I rated him a lot, he was going toe to toe with Viktor Axelsen not that long ago, he seems to have fallen off the cliff at the moment, wonder if observers from India can shed some light whats going on?.
His latest Instagram post indicates he’s taking a break. A small break I guess coz I saw his name in BAC draw. I think it’s good for him to take this important time off the circuit, introspect and come back with better momentum.
@Nine Tailed Fox I’m curious about your assessment of Priyanshu. Do shed some light. Don’t forget to add the masala. I enjoy your posts and assessment.

He looks and plays like Son Wan Ho. I saw a highlight against Nishimoto. Maybe he will develop into a Chen Long later on.
I was thinking you’d say something like this “Priyanshu’s footwork and in the air movement is like young Lin Dan of 2003-05. His stick smash also resembles to Dan’s young version” Even if he becomes like Chen Long in game style, I’d like him to take consistency part from Chen Long more. And if I up my fantasy ante, I’d like him to be rightie version of Lin Dan.
Not a bad assessment from you and Mr Fox, good thing if he morphed into halfway house of LD & CL with best attributes of both, the ingredients are all there, just needs to work on his development, stamina and eradicate giving away cheap points.
Disappointing to see him lose to Siddhanth Gupta in the recently concluded trials for AG. Not saying he'd be a better replacement to HSP/KS/LS but would've been interesting to see him battle out an out-of-form LS.
There was a selection trials in India for the upcoming Asian games. There were 8 players battling it out for 3 positions that includes Srikanth and Lakshya sen. Priyanshu did not even qualify for top 3. Now Srikanth, Sen and Mithun Manjunath , these 3 were selected at last. There are videos in Badminton Association of India youtube channel where videos are recorded for 3 or 2 hours. Not individual videos for particular player. We need to search it from those to see him play. Its tedious. India is still not a Badminton nation. We need to wait for few more years to have more organised system in Badminton as well.
Oh dear! I hope it’s not a case of “one swallow doesn’t make a summer” as regards to Priyanshu’s achievements thus far. Thanks for the heads up regarding the Badminton Association of India channel, will have a look. edit: just trawled through the numerous long footage, only found the game with Srikanth, maybe it’s familiarity thing with his playing style , Srikanth seems to be able to read his deceptions better than those opponents in Orleans. edit 2: Srikanth v Lakshya game was very good
Thanks, nice to know the score. Certainly lots of skilful play but lack intensity, Srikanth was comfortable.
Wow!…just saw Priyanshu’s match with Anthony Ginting, he acquitted himself very well, against a in form Ginting and the crowd, that was the marker for me, the relieve and respect from Ginting at the end was nice.
