Yes, she has retired from the National Team and international competitions but not completely quit badminton yet as she is going to play for Shanghai in next year's quadrennial 13th Chinese National Games, a big multi-sport event in China which will be held in Tianjin.

I'm sure going to miss her. To me she looked like a very professional, yet humble and fair player. She moved so elegantly on court.

Well, in my opinion she was rather a fighter than a elegantly (and smart) player. But maybe that was the main reason why I like her, because I'm not that different. Just with much much less talent of course :D
Sadly her retirement from the international scene wasn't mentioned anywhere on bwfbadminton.com.

it is unfortunate that BWF didn't make an announcement of WYH's retirement, while in Zhao YL's case, they did.

WYH had led the Chinese Women's Singles team since Zhang Ning's and XXF's retirements. She won the World Championship in 2011 and was instrumental in securing the Uber Cup for China in 2012.

Her retirement deserves a mention by BWF.

To me, whether you appreciate her badminton or not, she's a beauty both on and off court. Despiye her looks, yes, I agree, she's not an elegant player, more liker a bulldozer who forces her way through any opposition, relying more on her physicality, height and reach to break down her opponents' resistance than superb technique, highly effective, nevertheless, esp in her heyday but less so the last couple of years.

Now that she's retired, her suitors will be hot on her heels !

Thanks badminton-watcher for those beautiful, consolation pictures of Yihan :)

I will miss the pretty look and attacking play of Wang Yihan on and off courts after so many years being in the international circuit, quite a familiar face.

At present she's arguably the prettiest face with high performance in the women's singles!

I wish you all the best in your next endeavor, Yihan! Feel sad but life is like that, time flies.. stars come and go.... :-(

So she has retired. Sad to know.
She was my favourite Chinese player.
    Wish her happy retired life.
