i dunno how u could rank MS so low:rolleyes: I bet u r using MS to surf and compose your post in BC but not drinking coca cola right now

Denpend on how u define "biggest brand", but global well-knowness, or just simply the total usage. If just the 2nd, I am pretty sure many local brands from nations with large population (CHN, India, etc) will easily take the lead, as they have tons of ppl use it, but might be no-name outside the country.

It's same like the most known language is English, but the most spoken one is Chinese. ;)

haha, i'm just talking about brands that come to your mind first, and they representing the kind of product that they produce...
and the most well-known brand in my opinion, the one that i'm exposed to most frequently, and also the one that i will consider to buy over other brands...

the rankings of mine is irrespective of order... just anything established brand that you like the most for that particular product that comes to your mind...

ok, here's some more (probably i can't do without...)

Creative Technology soundcard
Penguin Publishing
Universal; Warner Brothers; Paramount Studios
RCA records; Island Records; Epic Music
Absolut Vodka (first Vodka brand that comes to mind due to intelligent advertising)

actually what does General Electrics specialise in ar? actually, i seldom heard of this brand, at least in my country... pardon me for my ignorance.

Creative yeah,
Penguin maybe,
RCA? bleh,
Absolut, nope definately think of smirnoff first.
GE is one of those really huge, really scary companies you've never heard on, like Matsushita, which is really the biggest force in consumer electronics, however, hardly anyone knows them.

However I wouldn't call either of them a "Brand".

mmm?

Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings?? Forgetting them so fast are we??
uh hahahahhaha are they brands?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! never knew

and,....umm what about samsung?!?

brands that come to mind are:
Boeing
Fuji
Cadbury-Schweppes
Pepsi Co

gee, I don't buy stuff all that much, and I tend to ignore advertising

I thought of
Pepsi because I drink Pepsi Max (don't like any Coca Cola flavour, or other Pepsi flavour)
Fuji because I have a Fuji camera and Subaru car (I think Fuji are behind Subaru)
Cabury because I like chocolate (and I applied for a job at Cadbury)
Boeing because....I have no idea where that came from

(lolx) harry potter and co. is out of my age liao.. at least for me.

i got many nasty experiences with samsung, no joke.
my sister's new camera handphone had been changed once, and yet it still continues to hang or having poor reception occasionally.
and her voice recorder has been changed under warranty then.
and my tv is becoming off-colour in one corner and the screen tilts to one side... after about 3 yrs of usage...

but one thing for sure, their after-sales are pretty good probably the anticipate the problems to come..haha!

for confectionary, i like Meiji chocolates. but i dun think they r the biggest brand in that industry yet. but the first name that comes to my mind.

i prefer Sprite but in terms of popularity and first brand-name that comes to mind, coca cola is still the big brother...

Chocolate - Cadbury
Toothpaste - Colgate
Batteries - Duracell
Mouse, Keyboard - Logitech
Graphics card - Nvidia
Sound card - Creative
Fighter Jets (Aeronautics) - Lockheed Martin

hey, same! but using microsoft wireless mouse now....

can tell us more about what's special about Lockheed Martin?

Biggest brands in gaming definitely belong to ID software for Doom and Quake. Just my 2 cents, and we can also acknowledge Half-Life up there among the legends.

Lockheed Martin is one of the few places where they develope military jets and other military equipment for the US government. Since they've worked with the government for so long, its more like a permanent contract now. I used to live by there too. :D

I'd vote for Squaresoft for gaming. (Or Square-Enix now)

Applied Materials is the biggest in the semicon field last time I checked.

Don't forget Trojan Condoms. Weee... :D

Instant noodle - myojo!
In Malaysia, I'd say instant noodle should be the Nestle brand, Maggie. ANY sort of instant noodle here is called 'maggie'.

"Had dinner?"
"Yeah. Just ate maggie".

"Apa mau bos? (What will you have sir?)"
"Kasi teh ais, sama maggie goreng satu" (Give me one iced milk tea and one fried instant noodle)".

GE definitly *is* a brand. At the moment I happen to work for a company owned by GE.

However they really *are* a huge scary company you never hear of but which rules your life without your knowledge, Illuminatio in real life:rolleyes: Infact they are the biggest company in the world, most employees that is.

Matshusita (sp?) OTOH is less of a brand, Panasonic, Technics, Teac etc are some of their "brands".

/mats
