    Question:
I'm coming down to Richmond to visit family (+ cook a turkey) over the holidays. I'm an Ontario Badminton member but do not have a badminton bc membership. I'd like to enter the Open Singles Event only but am i required to pay the $50 Badminton BC membership fee?

    Thanks

The best way to protest the increased fee would be to NOT register for any tournaments. Send the message loud and clear.

investigate...... so you know what you are saying is true

I can understand how you see thing as this is only your second post.
Please click the link below and find out the benefits of the membership

    $50/365day is 14 cents a day....
and one other fact you most likely don't know is that this is the first membership fee increase within the last 15 years...or even longer.

    Actually, the opposite is true

with only one membership fee, now you can play as many tournaments as you want. This fee qualifies you to play any A, B, Open, Master tournaments which you qualift to play and no need to upgraded to full membership any more.

and we should actually talk about membership fee in another thread...not here...may be the moderator would like to step in and move this topic in a new thread.....so, i will not respond to any more regarding membership

    Not holding my breath

Discounted tickets to PNE- not a huge priority for us
Access updated ranking - really? last year, rankings were not updated for almost the entire season
Editions of the BadmintonBC newsletter - Badelbow, when was the last time that members received this?
Online membership and tournament registration - why isn't the ClearOne tournament ONLINE?
Enhanced media attention - oh? will we be on TV with speedminton again?

    Hey everyone,

I was at the Badminton BC AGM today and they had announced that they've changed the $50 membership fee to $15. Yes, fifteen dollars. However, for future tournaments, they will add a modest tournament surcharge (e.g. $5) on top of the regular entry fee. For those who were considering playing the ClearTwo Jr. B, it is now much more affordable. I also think the deadline will be extended until sometime next week if you're still interested.

If you have paid the $50 fee, you WILL be reimbursed by Badminton BC. Not too sure the details, but I'm sure BBC will update their website on Monday.

Hey I have a quick question about the membership fee now. So... if we are to pay $15 first, we would pay $5 each time we play a tournament. However... What if we want to upgrade to this $50 membership?

Would the $5 we pay each time get subtracted from the remaining $35 that we have to pay?

    Thanks

As far as I know, the BBC membership is $15. The $50 membership does not exist anymore. The only catch now is that for every tournament you enter, you will have to pay an extra surcharge. However, I believe they are discussing a "cap", so after you have paid a certain amount of money, you will not have to pay a surcharge anymore. Whatever is included in the $50 should be available with this $15 membership. The only difference is really the tournament surcharge fee which will be implemented in future tournaments.

If you have any questions, send BBC an email, or just wait until they update their site with more details. This is all the info I have.

And, on a totally different note, ClearTwo is having a massive Forza sale on everything except shuttles and grip. It's a "Buy one, Get one free" with everything else, including racquets. There's also an added bonus that if you spend over a certain amount, you get a Forza bag. If you're not too crazy on the name brands, you can get some awesome deals. So if you're looking for some badminton gear, just drop by ClearTwo.

A better way to protest is to sign up with all different names to the tournament and not having to show up.

I don't see how $50/365days and not increasing the membership fee has anything to do with it.

the $50 is divided into how many tournament a player played within a year.

not increasing the membershop fee is not a reason to increase.

besides after all these years I've paid my dues to the memebership and such, I didn't even get a single BBC membership number myself. Don't even mention the piece of plastic card there is. What the hell does badminton do actually anyways?
