I recently tried some dishes that even vegans could eat. All of them are pretty good food for athletes, overall, maybe not right before a competition, but certainly the night before or afterwards.
Greek (style) baked beans (they'd use the giant white beans that I didn't have at home).

A Shakshuka (did I spell that correctly?) inspired dish with chickpeas instead of eggs, served with some wild garlic bread (@s_mair would say wood garlic, maybe a native speaker can tell us what's correct/more common for Bärlauch?).

Wow . That's a delicious platter you have cooked on your own.
I've got no chill so I love loads of red chillies in my food. Ahahahaahaaaha

Don't invite @swsh though as his big, round paunch may not get filled easily.
