You forgot one more thing.... if VA had won this match,he would have been the first active player to HAVE A POSITIVE H-2-H against LD.
Vow! the Chinese pair goes into lead 18-16 with 6 straight points in the second game after taking the first game.
Back guys. Did anyone actually watch the XD? Wondering if it's worth watching the replay - it's awful long.
Well,if you are Z/Z fan, nope becoz it was not their standard today if you are Z/Z hater,a must watch if you are neutral, you can watch coz they don't lose normally...
Watch it. Very entertaining match. As much as we made a fuss about ZN getting injured in the middle of the 3rd set, I must say that Joachim Fischer Nielsen was quite spectacular at the back of the court and a joy to watch his energy and power play. Of course he made a lot of bonehead errors on serve as well. easy way to watch these matches is to manually skip forward to the next point after each point. You can watch the match in about 1/6th of the time.
I think China in the WD show how much depth they have - doesn't matter who partners with who it seems, they are going to be top 5 in the world. It's simply a reflection of what happens when a country with nearly 1.5 billion people take interest in something. Sheer numbers will create some anomalies (eg. Lin Dan) and incredible depth. That's why it's amazing that Japan with one tenth of the population have created such depth in WS.
Also incredible that anomalies can come out of countries like Spain - with one hundredth of the population, they produced a WS player who has dominated the majors in the last 2 years, consistently beating the top China WS. Not surprising that there's not more media on this though - badminton is a tiny sport compared to many others. A real pity.
Yes, doesn't even cover the costs getting to the tournament. It's pathetic really, but it won't change unfortunately.
To be fair, Viktor played fantastic badminton, I like to repeat the phrase 'above himself" against Chen Long and Lin Dan today, but he didn't seem to reproduce the same devastating form against the rest, so I'm still not quite convinced that is VA's real standard. For sure he's improved significantly but as to whether he can do the same to LCW and beat him, we'll have to wait for their next matchup to give us the answer. So far, LCW has been able to put everyone in his place except Chen Long and Lin Dan.
Can't wait for the MD! Although to be honest, LYD is going to struggle with motivation here. It must hurt knowing he can't win that elusive major title, and must settle for "warm-up" tournaments. Luckily time is still on his side, unlike LCW.
Hehe, say what? Carolina Marin is already a legend, even if she retires now. World number 1, two-time World Champion and All England Champion. No need to reserve praise.
