    Ti-10 is a beast of a racquet

I just tried my first Ti-10 racquet yesterday.
Switch from Nanospeed 9000X to Ti-10.

    My review

Pros: awesome racquet head speed when swung overhead...feels like a tennis racquet...has its own momentum. Great smashes and clears are generated. Baseline shots are easy with this racquet. The super slim stiff shaft coupled with the heavy broad racquet head is responsible for this great swing.

Cons: Repetitive smashes with this racquet causes tennis elbow and shoulder pain...just like in Tennis. This racquet feels heavy compared to the Nanospeed or armortec series...eg 3U versions. Need to carry weights to strengthen the shoulder areas first before playing with this racquet.

Trade off: Limit gameplay to 1 hour instead of 2 or 3 hours. The racquet has great power but can be very tough on the shoulder/elbow.

    Awesome

Added a Yonex Ti-10 SP today to my arsenal
    It's a 3U G5 version - just the thing I was looking for.
Strung it with Yonex BG66 at 26lbs (1 notch down from my usual).

Added a cloth overgrip (a towel grip) but took it off after a few hits.
It now looks weird... with little tufts of yellow still stuck to the handle :p
But, thanks to Pacific's glue, it's now quite tacky :D
The original grip is good enough if your palm isn't extra sweaty (and mine is ).

For comparison, I used another three racquets:
    a Yonex MP-99, a Yonex AT-800 and a Yonex ArcSaber 7 - all at 25-27lbs.

The Ti-10 is the longest racquet among these.
The extra length comes from the shaft, which is almost an inch longer than that of the others.

In terms of transfer of power, the Ti-10 is way ahead of the others.
Even a 'relaxed' smash produces a gigantic punch
(As Badmintan pointed out, it 'has its own momentum'.)
However, when hitting really hard, the MP-99 draws abreast.

Players who prefer long swings aren't going to pleased with the Ti-10.
Whip it down... and you can feel the head slam into the shuttle.
Swing it down... and it feels like hitting with a plywood cutout :(

Gracefully curving drops are best not attempted with the Ti-10.
It has no patience for delicately sliced stuff... forceful is the keyword here.
Tapped drops, hard slices and half-smashes are your lethal weapons.
And when you get bored with the rally, just switch to the full smash

For pure control, the Ti-10 lags behind the ArcSaber 7 and the AT-800.
And although it feels stronger in flicks and clears, it seems wanting during parallel drives
The same effort produces a cracking drive from the MP-99 and the AT-800.

When blocking or lifting smashes, the Ti-10 is nearly as responsive as the ArcSaber and the AT-800. But don't try too many spinning netdrops - with its taut feel, you're more likely to lose points than win them :(

I'm posting this after a three-hour session (played eight 15-point games, six of them with the Ti-10) - and I neither feel sore nor have any aching muscles :)

In essence, get the Ti-10 if you're looking for a racquet great for that desperate last-second return, flicks, hard-slices, deceptive punches and, you bet, killer smashes! ;)

Oldhand, I just bought the ti10 before reading your post. Good review. Now I'll get another one as a backup :).

The old 2U is durable enough that an owner of the racquet's son uses it as an ice hockey stick.

I had quite some racquet clashes down the years, actually half-sat on it once by accident (good thing I didn't just crash down - stood up after realising there's a racquet there), left it in the car in the hot weather a few times due to my forgetfulness and I can say that *touches wood* it's still in good shape, with the expected paint chips and scratches.

If you're a defensive player, it sucks. If you're the power hitter offensive player, this thing is like Thor's hammer - mythical.

Owned the old ti10 but it was a 2u. From my memory I can say that it can punch a good smash as at500. Although it is a 2u, it is quite manoeuvreable. A 3u would be a dream.

As for the new ti10, it is 3u and very manoeuvreable.

From these circumstances, the NEW ti10 to me is much much better than the old one :).

Oh! Another thing. There's no racquet IMO that can match the durability of the old ti10. The hardest clash that I had didn't even produce a chip to it but crushed my partner's racquet. You get the picture?

Bought one more Ti-10 today ;)

Intended to hold the money for the ArcSaber 10...
...but bought the Ti-10 after noticing the Yonex code on the one I picked up.

The first one I bought had 121178.
This one had the number 121278.
    So... bought it! :p

Strung this one with BG80 at 27lbs and played tonight.
I must repeat that, in all, it's a superb racquet :)

Wow, it seems like there's an adequate supply of old Ti-10s in SG. Does anyone think they can send me a 3U for a reasonable price? Are the codes 2004 or 2001?

What are all the Ti-10 production years to be noted? Original Ti-10 (2001), head lighter version (2004), new Ti-10 (2005?), purple Ti-10 (2007).

was at a local pawn shop in california today and guess what i found?!

---->8---- cut here (include this line) ---->8----
racket model: Yonex Ti 10 Long Sp

    shaft serial: 3951120
    cone code : 010826SP
source : Bought it from a local pawn shop
price: 10 USD + 1 credit card fee
---->8---- cut here (include this line) ---->8----

Initially i was looking for jack stands for my car and was about to leave when my friend started to deal over a set of dvds he wanted, but then in the corner i saw the Yonex bag with Titanium embroided on it and my heart jumped...I asked to see it and it was low and behold a genuine (still needs to be determined) Ti10!!! OMG, i had to keep my
excitement down so that they'd value it low. :) woohoo, it turned out to be a 2U G4, and I have my gf's 3U G4, so i figure now i have two i can switch between in case i feel like having a smash fest
