Qualifications have started today, and Wong Mew Choo has beaten Kim Kyeung Ran 11-3 11-7 in the qualification's biggest clash for the moment.

Wong Mew Choo lost in the next qualification round to Japanese Eriko Hirose though...

and "BFer" Thomas Laybourn qualified in MX with Kamilla Rytter Juhl by beating Gan Teik Chai and Wong Pei Tty in two sets

Maybe something is wrong with Wong Mew Choo. Eriko Hirose is only a youth player and not strong.

I also found Maria Krinsteen of INA lost to Brenda BEENHARKER. I think it's a bad news for INA women which try to get good result in Uber Cup.

Silvi Antarini qualified herself very easily for the main draw however...

INA girls still have a few resources!

    A few MS results...

Wu Yunyong struggled 10-15 15-8 15-12 vs Eric Pang,
Roslin took his revenge 15-7 15-9 vs Simon Santoso,
Anders Boesen 15-7 15-2 vs Ronald Susilo (!!),
Lee Tsuen Seng 15-2 15-7 vs Jens Roch...

and an interesting match is taking place at the moment : Park Tae Sang vs Hafiz Hashim!

That's it for Hafiz, unless he perform a miracle in All England. What a waste.

We will just have to wait and see. Looking at Hafiz, will he even get to meet CH? I don't think there will be any conspiracy if they do meet.

15-11 / 15-3 is pretty bad. 15-3, perhaps his injuries isn't completely healed? we will find out soon when the next day's news coverage shows up.

i can already feel the steam coming from Misbun's head.

Hafiz is special, I cannot imagine him losing to Park on his day, no disrespect to Park. I think there is something wrong.

or perhaps just a case of resting too much and not used to competition.

but then, looking at his records from the last year, apart from AE win and a couple of semi-finals on smaller tournaments, he normally get kicked out from the first few rounds.

Intresting, that only in the second round, and we have (in the MD) only pairs from the "big 5" (Malaysia3, indonesia4, china2, denmark4, korea3)

i can imagine that will be the case for the next few big tourneys, Swiss/AE/Korean/Japan, regardless of their star rankings. it will be an Olympic preview every other week.

and as we get closer to the end of the Olympics qualifying period, the closer we will be seeing the actual seeding for the Olympics. by the time we get to Japan, we will be seeing a seeding distribution that will be quite close to the Olympics one as the only major tourneys after that will be the TC/UC and Continental championships.

Japan Open will be the most realistic preview to the Olympics.

what a great time to be a badminton fanatic!!
