Is it? I'm not too sure... if that is the case, I think both Habiz and Uncle Wong will qualify... BOLEH :)

Hafiz Hashim lost to Sho Sasaki in the Round of 16 at the 2011 Australia Open GPG, 21-17, 21-11 :(

Sigh... so did he qualify for the WC2012? I thought Sho Sasaki has retired from singles and now only playing in doubles, no?

Hafiz kisses his hopes of qualifying for world meet goodbye

PETALING JAYA: Mohd Hafiz Hashim’s slim hopes of qualifying for the World Championships in August went up in smoke after he crashed out in the third round of the Australian Open in Melbourne yesterday.

The KLRC shuttler, who is ranked 33rd in the world, needed to win the Australian Open title to at least stand a chance of breaking into the top 24.

However, all Hafiz could do was go down 17-21, 11-21 to Japan’s Sho Sasaki, a player the Malaysian used to defeat with relative ease.

A country can have two shuttlers in the competition if they are ranked among the top 64 and a maximum of three if all are in the top 24.

Hafiz is currently the third ranked Malaysian behind Lee Chong Wei and Wong Choong Hann.

We have to take our hats off to Uncle WCH.:D:D:D
As for MHH, he should appraise his situation whether at his age, he could continue to be on tour as a pro. It is quite embarrassing to keep crashing out in the early rounds of grand prix events where the big stars are not even playing and losing to non-starters he could easily beat in the past. Maybe, MHH could consider a coaching job with KLRC and that's not a small matter.:confused::confused:

Sho Sasaki is not a nobody, He is ranked higher than Hafiz at 26 and he is not young, he is 29. As stated by PBM he also won the 2010 dutch GP. Hafiz is expected to lose against Sho Sasaki. To me, Hafiz is just another badminton player with so-so performance that currently ranked 33 in the world (which is not bad actually).

I think you mixed up Sato Shoji with Sasaki Sho!

Which brings us back to the Thomas Cup 2010, where Malaysia lost 2-3 to Japan. Habis lost to Sato Shoji in the third singles, even though Sato is supposed to only play doubles in 2010. Therefore, of course he will lose to a normal singles player! :D

What's sad is that Hafiz is the third-highest ranked Malaysian MS (he's ranked 31st now), and the second-highest is Uncle WCH (24th). Where are the young hopefuls? Although this is probably a question for the back-up players thread.

Hafiz is getting worse and worse since towards the end of last year. Bring him in the local circuit, I think one of the back-up players can beat him.

Yes hafiz and wch should consider becoming a coach later

and impart their knowledge on baddy to the younger generation. :)

If they are still touring they need to work harder

and prevent those non-starter from kicking their back side :D

Who knows, by 2012 when the 2 killers have retired

either one could make a big name for themselves ...

Well at least in some of the finals or semi finals :D
