interestingly that, again excluding the team events, LCW is very consistent since 2005 that he took 1 match or less from LD every year (not many people can say that, apart from that Korean guy still has his 100% record against LD); 2005 Malaysia Open 2006 Japan Open 2007 Japan Open 2008 - 2009 Swiss Open 2010 Japan Open 2011 All England. So, if LCW can defeat LD for the next 6 months he will surpassed his best. None for the 2008 Olympic year, is that a hint for the 2012?
2005 until 2011? Oh boy that's too long I don't think we can use that trend to predict especially when its too old into the past. I take it as a 50-50 for either Lcw and ld
I am more conservative because I think LD has an edge mentally. I would say it is 48-52 now unless the current trend continue be similar for the next one year.
LD and LCW are quite even 50/50 in all aspects of the game, except LD's mental edge because of his winning H2H record over LCW. But after AE11, I think LCW confidence is on the upside and I think LCW wants to play LD more before OLY12 comes calling. One more LCW over LD would increase LCW confidence even more, that is why INA spoiled the party upsetting MAS:crying: LCW is playing his best badminton now almost unbeatable while LD has been absent from the circuit for a while. But Sudirman showed us LD is still the great player he is. I agree with you both on favoring LD because LCW most probably has to play 1 CHN MS player before he can meet LD, and that is mentally draining and not easy, because we know whoever represents CHN in OLY will be tough, come fully prepared to win.
Yes, otb what we are seeing now are: 1/ a winning Lcw ... so far 2/ an improved Ld and he's beating the rest 3/ a struggling 2nd China ms so far ... Come Olympic 12, anything can happen
lcw is more confident now because, he knows that LD is 'married'... aha... so, stamina is a problem for lindan. U notice that LD will always take a longer break between points. U reckon?
Chong Wei, Koo and Tan excused from SEA Games The Star Online Tuesday May 31, 2011 KUALA LUMPUR: Lee Chong Wei’s wish to stay out of the Indonesia SEA Games has been granted. In fact, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have also decided not to send their top men’s pair, Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong, for the biennial Games scheduled for Nov 11-25. Yesterday, BAM secretary Ng Chin Chai echoed Chong Wei’s sentiments on giving the younger players a shot at proving themselves in the regional Games. “The BAM have made plans to expose a newer group of players for the Games. We will name the squad at least three months before the Games,” he said. “All the players under the Road to London programme – Chong Wei, Koo and Tan – will focus on their preparation for the Olympics.” Full story: http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2011/5/31/sports/8790965&sec=sports
(1) LCW winning so far w/o meeting LD (2) LD beating the rest w/o facing LCW (3) Come OLY12, CHN 2nd MS will be tough since OLY12 allows 2 MS max, the 2nd MS CHN send will be tough, bet on that. Yes, come OLY12 anything can happen as it is still a long way away. ..but as of now, LCW and LD are favorites IMO.
Sure looks that way LD played in Sudirman....relaxy and dangerous lah! LCW is like a Honda Accord EXL iVTEC engineer high revolution and fast take off speed, LD like a Camry V6XLE smooth and slowly building up speed, both are great cars, err..I mean players. P/S Those are the 2 car models I drove since 1987 till now, never sat in a GTR or Porsche, out of my range .....hahaha!!!
Wow, these are the 2 best players in the world by miles and all they get are comparisons to a Honda Accord and a Toyota Camry? Wonder what would Boonsak or Simon get compared to? A Lada or a Proton?
It is hoped that LCW and LD meet in the Premier Indonesian Open SS. LCW has indicated that he will skip the Singapore Open. LD played well in the Sudirman Cup tournament in China but had a hard time against Sho Sasaki. However, playing outside China is a different ball game, so let's wait and see.
LCW is more like the S1000RR View attachment 99017 LD is more like the K1300GT (at least now; he used to be the S1000RR prototype! ) View attachment 99018
