Well, LCW got a lot of 'encouragement' indeed. We gave him a Datuk title despite the lad not winning any major titles and all. We spoon fed him nicely at home. Thus, as WR1 he can only win in his own back yard.

So, you think the pampering method is the way to go with our shuttlers?

And my dear, I am not 'scolding' or being 'harsh'. I am just asking why give that Datukship to LCW when he has got no major title/s in his cupboard??

The Datuk title ought to be kept prestigious and be given to someone that brought honours to the nation/state. It is not to be given to any Kiki, Lala, Ah Lau or Lulu. It is like the 'Sir' title. Do you see Queen Elizabeth giving it to Ali G?

Pemuda's point is that LCW should not be awarded the Datukship as he is just a 2nd fiddle. And yes.. Datukship should be prestigious. I do agree with him. However it is not LCW's fault. IF people want to offer me datukship.. i would be glad to accept it as well.
But then in people's mind nowadays.. DATUKSHIP has lost its VALUES. Which in fact is true.

But i think when it comes to complaints, we should concern more on Shah Rukh's datukship.
Malaysia's first Men Single Olympic Silver, that will be second or third concern.

I won't justified the award given, but Datuk Lee Chong Wei is moving forward.
So, what more do we want?

What if he (for any reason) couldn't stay as a Badminton Player after the Summer Olympic, and there goes his chance to win any other big tournament.
Appreciated someone when he's still there.

yup indeed i also dont quite agree with the datukship awarded..
but then as ants said, people wana give u then just accept la.. no point reject it which will make the awarder feel rejected and he may end up being in trouble for making the VVIP unhappy, rite?

It's a baseless to point finger at Lee Chong Wei
He didn't fill up a form to be rewarded.
And i don't see anyone here doing that to Chong Wei
It is simple.I don't expect us to pull back merely to fix things up.Let the bygones be bygones.

thats right..what is wrong with chong wei when he's got the datukship? when ppl give him, he just take la..as ants stated earlier..same here;)
to those who dont like or disagree with that, what can you do if you just mumbling and debating around here..? will it change the fact that he had been already given a datukship?;)

Sweetie, the point is our Datukship title has no value unlike the Sir title given out by the Queen. Every year, we liberally dish of Datukships to any Ah Long, Ah Kong, Mat Sapu, Muthu, Lulu and Kiki that the Datukship title of today have no more class or prestige. We have illegal dvds distibutors being made Datuks. We have operators of massage parlours and spas being made Datuks. We have loan sharks being made Datuks.

It is the giving that counts

    .
:D:D:D Hahaha. Doesn't it go back to the old saying "It is the giving that counts"?

In a way, LCW is also giving. LCW is giving his acceptance or approval of something that he did not even ask for.

    :):):)

    ^^I think..^^

..Pemuda has imprinted his "cap jempol" (point) on the previous page, post #1288 (one of his hundreds of the same point).;)
He's holding on the traditional/conservative viewpoint on when (and to whom) should the Datukship be rightly bestowed..;)

He is giving, indeed. The argument here is he's not giving enough to be rewarded that honourable title.
It is a truth that anyone can get that award, it is not special anymore.
However, for me,need not to question on whether or not he's justified for that Datuk award, we'd already called him Datuk now.Dont fight for it.Dont trouble urself. It is useless.
