After seeing the Gade Feint at Peter Gade's site, I wanted to make a thread devoted to cool moves. It doesn't have to work well as long as it's cool! Just write down moves that you've invented or seen.
Oh there is this one move that I tried in practice but yet in a real game. FAKE JUMPSMASH Ok first when there is an high clear that is jump-smash able, even if you cant jump smash, jump for it a bit earlier but try to remain in the air for as long as possible. Then swing your racket as close to the bird as possible but miss it. Continue the follow through of the fake smash and kinda spin/turn/twist your body in mid air so you wond land facing the opposite direction you were facing before the jump smash (most likely now your back is towards the net). Now hit a quick dropshot while the bird is dropping to complete the trick This involves alot of body control, and timing and only works well if you are able to fake the smash well enough. I did it once by luck and hurt myself a bit most of the other times i tried it.
Behind the back, between the legs. I also think that forehand recovery while running backwards is cool.
there's another one i saw my coach do......he misses a clear, bends and than lifts the birdie up...and it's all done so fast.....i really can't see what's happening!
The Butt Spanker!!! (Your Back Facing opponent, Forehand Downward swing, hitting shuttle at about shin - ankle height)
The Groin Smash It's the same as the average smash but with the "oomph" at the end. It's an artform. I perfected it!
um thers this one i tried but didnt work very well get into a power backhand position but when it still in the air stop and do a drop i dunno its wierd
deception is the word i think your looking for, what is this power backhand position you speak of though?
Jumping backhand cross-court smash. Taufik did tat move in the match againts KJ in the 2004 thomas cup. That move was amazing, i think he is the only person in the world that attempt such a hard move.
I think is when you hit it with your grip My cool move will be the jump to backhand cross-court smash!!! I did it once at the nationals and it worked!!!
I've hit myself at the groin with the the racket head on the follow through--it's not cool at all:crying:
Nationals? I've checked your profile and it says you're only 18! When did you start playing? When did you join the nationals? I'm so jealous right now, lol Keith
