I'm just curious about what will happen to the partnership of Kido and Setiawan. Will they still be able to pair and compete?

Well I think it'll be awesome if Kido decides to come to the US and pair up with Tony Gunawan.

I don't think Kido wants Tony. His most likely option right now is his own brother, Bona. And who knows, we can possibly see Bona-Pia or Kido-Pia in XD... They can get more income this way... :)

Loh would use even a racquet to hijack that flight.
You see, Singapore is just next door to Indonesia :D

Most of the INA's successful MD pairs in recent years do not have long livespan as a pair (except for Ricky/Rexy).

Candra/Sigit were split up as soon as they won the WC in 1997 before they were reunited briefly in 2003 and 2005.
Tony/Candra were also split up as soon as they won the AE in 1999 & Sydney Olympics Gold in 2000.
Tony/Halim were also split up as soon as they won the AE & WC in 2001.

Thus far, Kido/Hendra have lasted over 6 years as a pair (since 2003), a pretty long partnership. But, they have won the World Championships and Beijing Olympics Gold, an achievement which I can say is enough to surpass all the above mentioned pairs.

INA had a brief lean spell prior to and during Athens 2004, before Candra/Sigit's surprising return post Athens Olympics. They had an unbelievable 2005 where they lost agonizingly to Tony/Howard in the WC, otherwise, they would be a double World Champions!

It's time for a new batch of INA MD pairs to dominate the World, soon enough hopefully!

Hendra Setiawan/Mohd Ahsan will be an interesting combination
Ahsan is only 21 and with Hendra's wealth of experience, he could mature even faster as a solid MD player.

I think Kido made mistake by talking to reporters too soon......it was all about communication....still have opportunities to withdraw his statements..

It's all about controlling his emotions....and of course the issues of $$$ (as mentioned in Kompas too).

I personally believe he made a mistake in withdrawing from the National Team and he had to bear the consequences if he (and his siblings) could not find sponsors, esp if he can't form a partnership with Hendra Setiawan as independent pros.

This weekend should be a cooldown period for the hot-heads... :) Let them think it over and change their minds quickly on Monday. Otherwise, Lius will start calling other prospective youngsters to take their space...

badMania and hau-ge... your analysis are quite plausible. Ahsan is very talented too. I think either Hendra Setiawan-Ahsan or Hendra-Rendra can work... but Hendra-Ahsan is probably the more promising potential...

So... this year... we might see:
    Rian-Yoke
    Wifqi-Alfiat
    Edo-Lingga
    Hendra-Ahsan
from the National Team... and also from the independent pros:
    Kido-Bona
    Joko-Candra
    Flandy-Halim
    Alvent-Hendra AG
Luluk-Rendra (this pair is still theoretical, ha ha)

NINE active INA pairs in GP-GP Golds-Super Series... wow! :D

Is that confirmed LulUk with Rendra?
I think Rendra can partner with Frans again in Pelatnas....
Not easy to deal with Luluk though...

I am still optimistic about INA's prospect in MD given the wealth of talents we have in the juniors (too bad Rizky/Albert and Darmiko/Jones lost in the Tarakan Open )

If Kido really makes up his mind to leave, then Sigit Pamungkas will send Hendra/Ahsan to lots of tourneys to make sure they go to top 16 at least by end of this year  I can see the India Open and ABC GP Golds as possible tourneys for the new pair.

I think for Ahsan, it's good news because Hendra is surely superior to Bona and he will find himself starting to win tourneys with Hendra perhaps?

I don't think Richard Mainaky will want Fran to play MD  I thought he wants him to concentrate in XD.

Don't know agreement PBSI in collective sponsor about non pro tournaments, TC & UC, SC, Olympics, Asian Games, WC, etc
How the rules when PBSI pull non Pelatnas players in the squad while they have different sponsor with same product of PBSI's sponsor ?

The pro players must consider it, in badminton the events like OG, WC are placed in highest level.
Badminton is not tennis which has Grand Slams and more pro tournaments rather than association tournaments.

I guess Kido's emotions was influenced by decision of his brother & sister.
It was sponsor's right to distribute the money depend on player's achievement
