Could it be that someone "lost face" . Wasn't HY a CBA trainee who wasn't "selected" for national training and went to HK instead. LYB is not THW's coach. Why give him a talking to. It's the job of the personal coaches to tell THW what he did wrong in that match.
There is nothing wrong in losing to a better player on that day. One doesn't have to add salt to the wounds. And so openly too! It's sending the wrong messages everywhere!! Just like a school headmaster.
Two QF's in a row; not bad at all. Has potential to break into Top 5 if he pulls together a string of strong results, especially with KS playing very poorly, Jan O injured for a while and VA, KM so inconsistent. I think he has already overtaken WZM to be CHN MS #3, such a pity the Olympics rules changed after 2012 otherwise he would have had a fair shot of going to the Rio 2016 as 3rd MS player.
Yes he has improved. He seems to be copying LDs style of play but lacks the speed, killer smash and makes too many silly mistakes. He plays his game as if he is still learning the moves ie he is not yet confident of his strokes. But always interesting to watch.
Yeah, I get the impression that he's copying LD's style as well; especially since they are both left-handed. Also just 22 (23 in November) so still has time to develop.

Tian Houwei has overtaken Wang Zhengming in the world rankings. At World Number 9,he has become China's 3rd highest MS.Can he maintain his lead over Wang?
I don't think it's as easy as that; not way better. THW is more consistent than him, that's why he has overtaken him obviously. But I still think that WZM has a better attack and a more fluid footwork, he just sometimes lacks the fire to win.
Both know they are not going to Rio,that's why motivation level can be down. However, for Thomas Cup spot, both will be eager.
The way I see it, THW happened to have better draws than WZM in the last several tournaments, that's why Tian went farther than Wang Some more tournaments are needed to conclude between the two.
Its almost 3 years since THW beat LCW and he did not achieve a lot since then. Not many players are fearing him anymore since he has lost many times and sometimes humiliating defeats also like losing to old man Eric Pang in 2014 WC. Will he go the same way as Du Pengyu or be like Wang Zhengming? At least LD is getting old so that could save THWs career.
That just proves that one victory against a not-in-form LCW proves nothing. I think Wang Zhengming is still better.
He is super quick in defense, but he doesn't have many offensive weapons. Look like he is still not ready to follow LD, and CL to lead the Chinese MS.
Yes, Tian Houwei is super quick in his defence, and he has the skill sets to be a very good player. But what separate Tian Houwei from a very good player to a world beater in the mold of LD and CL is his lack of explosive strength to kill off smashes when the chance presents. Tian Houwei seriously needs to work on his explosive strength to make jumping smashes one of his main weapon in his game. His jumping smashes now is not threatening to opponents at all, all his effort to jump smash is just to waste his own energy as the effort is always not rewarded with a point (plus a immediate break where he can recover his breath) and worst still, more energy is wasted to recover from the smash and to play on further longer rallies. If he can have the explosiveness power to kill of smashes, he can conserve a lot of energy for not needing to continue to play longer rallies.
Tian Houwei is never gonna make it. He is worse than WZM and DPY. Actually Du Pengyu had been the best singles player for China since Chen Long.... He was the only one able to push LCW hard.
