You can't compare a 0.69mm string with a 0.65mm one at the same tensions. If you do, you're being unfair to the thicker string. I would go 2 to even 3 lbs higher to even get the same ping and feel.
No way. I agree with visor. Eg fire 62 vs fire69, 2lb difference to get similar power/control. If i do same tension id expect it to feel too soft and it would be a waste as I'd have to redo it. I appreciate the input though.
Lol, if I were my own stringer, I would, but I'm not about to waste a perfectly good string and paid labour to do that when I know from past personal experience and experience of others that it will feel dull. That's an established fact and there's no other way about it. So why bother?
The last of my 110 will be gone soon, and LN#1 will be my new base string. Heck, I even got Dink to have a go, and he loves it. Sad to see the 110 go, but I'm moving into tensions that the previously-insignificant flaws can no longer cope with.
Yeah, the Gosen string has very bad tension retention and is quite fragile compared with any of the top strings, especially No. 1. Initial feel is excellent, though.
You should try Li-Ning No. 3. Better feeling than No.1. Both better than yonex BG66. Li-Ning string can hold tension longer than yonex string. Unless you are very frequently change string, if not Li-Ning string much better than yonex. This is my feeling. Sent from my SM-N910G using Tapatalk
I tried No. 3, still prefer No. 1. But they are very similar in their characteristics, which means that No. 3 plays exactly like a thicker No. 1.
LN no.1 string is 0.65mm. LN no.3 string is 0.63mm. Definitely different feeling. Just like yonex BG65 and BG66. Different thickness different feeling. Sent from my SM-N910G using Tapatalk

A very strange issue (well, potential issue) I've noticed: my first few mains made a lot of "chugging" noise when pulled, and I eventually traced it to friction with the U-shaped grommets. I took one out of the bag yesterday and found main #4 broken for no apparent reason, so this friction might have just burnt the string enough to weaken it. In any case, wetting the "channel" of the USG before pulling took care of it.
Time to clean your.... grommets? I wonder if they get greasy too and if changing them would help. I had a little hint that it was time to clean my clamps. Thanks ultimax
Tried NO.1 in a MX80. It was nice and crisp and even for 24/25 it played very well for me. The control was down, compared to my preferred tension, but feel and repulsion were great. I think it has good potential, but I will stick with BG80 till winter and switch to NO.5 or G-Tone 9.
Wait: LN3 is a thinner version of LN1? Wow, that should be a tremendous string then! Just an update from this Panda, tested ~15 sets of LN1 on a variety of rackets ranging in tension from 28-34lbs. Compared LN1 to the other benchmark strings including Aerosonic (never tried LN3) and: 1) Aerosonic had the best overall feel but LN1 was excellent for its thickness and LN1 would be my overall pick for best string. It has no weaknesses. 2) BG80-Power has the best overall performance for about the first ~5 hours, then drops off significantly like Victor's VS-850. Even when it drops, it's still a very good string. 3) After 5 hours of use, LN1 is the best this Panda has tried; LN1 stabilizes and plays so well. A couple of random thoughts: +Some times you don't even realize how good LN1 is if you don't compare it to other string (especially after 5 hours of play) because it's so consistent. You just think, yeah, it's good. Then you compare to other string (that's over 5 hours of play old) and think, WOW, LN1 is so good. +Most string, after 10 hours of play, Panda wants to cut because it's not "fresh" anymore. That crisp, taut feel is gone. But with LN1, no, I'll keep it. Yes, the tension has dropped some but it breaks in so well and plays just fine. +BG80-Power: If just looking for the ultimate power/smash string for tournament play or just the ultimate performance (with decent durability) and money is not a factor, it's hard to beat BG80-Power, especially at high tension. At 34lbs., initially, it's so crisp and still has excellent power. For more power, but (somehow) significantly less feel, drop to 32lbs. And the sound, BOOM!!! Tested about 10 different strings and BG80-Power had the loudest BOOM, even at 34lbs (loudest BOOM was at 32lbs.). But just remember, after 5+ hours, 80-Power loses significant tension and performance but still very good. *Panda is not affiliated with Li Ning in anyway. In fact, if you really have to ask, Panda is a bit biased towards Victor and Yonex. But I tell it like it is, to the best of my ability, and LN1 is an incredible string and I have to give credit where credit is due. Kudos to LN1! Now I have to get my paws on LN3...
