There's a lot of upsets so far. Korea's men's team is playing very well against India.

Never rule out the unheralded KOR, they're always dangerous in team event.
Most notable result is Jeon Hyeok Jin to stun the in-form Lakshya Sen who topped podium S500 at home turf last month.

Pathetic performance by India. As I had said before, the Indian federation selected a very weak and had very wrong selection criteria. What pains me more is not that India is performing bad, it's that India could have performed better if better players were selected.

If I was in charge, I would have made the following team for Indian men:-

    1. Lakshya Sen

    2. Kiran George

    3. Priyanshu Rajawat

    4. Maisnam Meiraba

    5. MR Arjun & Dhruv Kapila

    6. Vishnuvardhan & Krishna Prasad

    7. Sai Pratheek & Ishaan Bhatnagar
This would have been such a good team. I based this mostly on the basis on their performance in the past few months.

Agree, this is a much better team, but I think they only selected players outside PGBA this time.

    @badmuse , @Baddie lover right?

It's not surprising because they fielded an even worse team in Sudirman Cup last year.

I think except Manjit Dingku pair every male player is from outside PGBA. Don't know much about which academy women players like Tara shah, simran singh are from ? It's safe to say majority of players weren't from PGBA.

Even Lakshya Sen lost in straight games. With this team, How could they even dream of reaching Knock out round?
MD1 and MD2 ! The scores talks their volume.

Oohh. I read an article yesterday, where it was written they train at PGBA

    https://thebridge.in/badminton/putting-manipur-badminton-map-manjit-dingku-change-29228

"Rising to prominence without any coach or even a proper wooden court to train on, Manjit and Dingku were fated to play badminton. Although they train now at the Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad and have recent semi-finals runs at Bahrain International Challenger 2021 to look back upon, the BATC 2022 will be their first-big event in the senior team."

The Malaysian women's team surprised everyone by edging out Japan... albeit the Japanese fielded mostly unknowns. But..so were the Malaysians except for kisona and pearly

In the women's tournament, an awful opening result for Team Japan against Malaysia. I suppose that is what you get when you field high schoolers. I understand that exposing the younger generation to international competition is important, ... but this was a ludicrous team selection. Any corporate team player would have done better. What was the coaching team thinking here?

Apart from the very last match, the two other matches that Japan lost were close. That's a creditable performance by Japan and good experience gained for the future.

With a B team and primary consideration of getting experience, were you expecting more? Many countries opt to use this tournament to give younger players a chance of playing with the team and guide them.

I think Malaysia's team is quite young too though,I think their oldest player is only 24. The rest are in early twenties and teenage years.

I don't think this is the strongest team that Malaysia can field. I know that Goh Jin Wei and Soniaa arent in BAM anymore but based on performance they probably should have been selected. Same with Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi. Toh Ee Wei too, although she is in XD now.

I think if Mizui had played, there was a good chance that Japan could have swept the singles. Now, we have a single player playing double and a double player playing single, two players doing double duty. COVID wrecking havoc at home and abroad.
