All I know is one of the player's ear is bleeding. That is all the info I have now
So apparently while changing ends, there was some trash talk going on. Bodin starts chasing Maneepong, Maneepong hits Bodin with his racket during the chase, Bodin then tackles down Maneepong and starts kicking and punching him before the coaches pulled him off.
Wth? That's some serious sh*t happening!
Do we know what led to their previous breakup?
at first, Thai fan believed that Bodin had a conflict with Thailand badminton association
but later in a TV show (without Bodin) they said like it's a conflict between the two
and this may confirm... however, we still don't no what's the reason of the conflict
There's a video of the fight on facebook. http://www.facebook.com/badminton.vancouver Quite an unfortunate incident....
Tks, BV for the quick upload.
From the blurry cell phone video, it looks like Bodin ran after and tackles Mannepong to the ground and pounds on him a few times, then kicks him before Bodin's partner and the officials manage to catch up to hold down Bodin. Then Bodin's partner assists and walks away with Mannepong who loses his shirt in the melee.
I didn't see in that video, but a few sources told me Maneepong hit his racket on Bodin's face. Maybe during that tussle on the ground?
This incident will make badminton given the news spot where it usually not.
Another bad publicity but of course it can happen in any event. Personal issues.
I am curious how BWF will respond to this incident
I wouldn't call it bad publicity per se... in a twisted way, somewhat opposite in fact.
This shows how much of a serious sport this is... not like the usual wimpy backyard game that the general public thinks of when they think of badminton.
But whatever Mannepong said, Bodin is the one who lost control of himself. And unfortunately and ultimately, he's the one whose future will be in doubt with BWF and the Thai association.
One week in Canada and badminton players are acting like ice hockey players.
Thailand may be on the news but in bad way, sadly
When in Rome...
anyone know, both of them get Black Card or only Bodin pair?
If you look at tournament software, Jongjit pair are the MD Canada Open winners.
Well, on tournamentsoftware, it says Maneepong's pair won, so I'm assuming only Bodin pair got black carded.
This is really sad...what's gonna to happen to Bodin? His wife and daughter are with him in Vancouver and I assumed were watching the match...
Wow, the video is starting to go Viral, already been translated into 3 languages and is making its way across Europe and Asia now. On a sidenote, the video belongs to Malisa Leung yumo.ca
May I ask this of those who live in Vancouver, and perhaps Calgary and Toronto:
Did the Canada Open get even a mention in any of the mainstream media/sports networks this week?
My guess is that it didn't before, but it will now.
Skirts, Olympic cheating, and now Brawling. Seemingly our sport's only pathway to recognition is infamy.
