I watched the match yesterday . I was wondering why wei nan was given so many serving faults. At one point of time, he thrown the racket away and along with the coach he was protesting. Infact, it's quite obvious for a player to protest . But i wonder in what way BWF is judging one person's hip(height from the ground)??? . There should be something to prevent unnecessary and wrong faults to happen which totally distract players from playing his normal game. Wei Nan is a very good player. I saw him totally devastated after several serving faults. I understood his situation because he could not communicate to umpire what he was trying to say and he was totally stunned by the service judge. Infact , he stopped serving low and started to go for high serves, which eventually became his killer . Really i pity for him.
i predict neither 2 MAS MD pair Goh/Lim nor Hoon/Tan can make it to semifinal as Goh/Lim face tougher JPN pair Endo/Hayakawa while Hoon/Tan face Ko/Shin as rematch of last year China Open R16 which will see Ko get stronger after returned from 'hardcore' military service...
Vittinghus was kind enough to reply to me on twitter. He said Nan Wei was faulted for striking the feathers firtst and also for height. Said he was surprised to see him switch to a forehand serve too. ---- Did Ko complete his military service or was he recalled early because of LYD & Kim's ban?
So Wei Nan lost because of several fault calls against his services? In badminton, unlike in table tennis or tennis, the server has no undue advantage over the receiver since the time the Dixie spin or S service was banned. The present service rule gives too much room for subjective decisions to the extent that the service judge can influence the outcome of a match, intentionally or otherwise. Why can’t the service rule be changed to allow any service if the cork is struck first to impart an upwards parabolic trajectory to the shuttle starting from a point lower than the net cord? Incidentally the Dixie spin or S service is executed by holding on to the cork and slicing the feathers to impart an S-shaped trajectory to the shuttle so that the receiver cannot tap the shuttle down. When Wu Dixie and Lin Ying, protégés of Tang Hsienhu, first came on the scene Wu Dixie used it so effectively that an English player at the receiving end whose first name starts with G called for an immediate ban claiming that “it puts ordinary players among the best in the world”. Unfortunately for her even after the ban Wu and Lin went on to rule women’s doubles for quite a number of years. The Sidek brothers used the S service too and some claimed that they invented it, but according to some sources Tang Hsienhu was the first to use it in the doubles game.
Can't give you any video link. The next time you play badminton just try a few time on your own and you will see first- hand what the service looks like. Just hold on to the cork and slice the feathers with the feathers pointing down. Another version which I have tried, not very successfully, those days is to hold the feathers on the rim that is away from the body and with the cork pointing down slice the feathers. Do it without the net first. Cheers!
i have check video online but not very clear, how the shuttle go, if possible would like ot see real imee

Because Victor won Kento momoto in the previous round easily. The way Arvind played today proves that he must have had improved. Let's see how he does in semifinals where he is ought to meet a chinese taipei player who is a very good attacking player.

Good wins for Zwiebler and Sayaka tonight. Look forward to both SF's vs Vittinghus and Marin. ------ Thanks to @tbgoh288 Very good post
Woah, Great stuff. Confidence must be flying high for Arvind. Happy for him. Keep on going! He has more than a decent chance to make it to the final.
This HK pair are progressing well. They had a holiday so in Korea, the results reflected that. Amongst the pairs ranked outside of the top five world mixed pairs, there's a real dogfight.
So close and yet so far for HKG Lee/Chau in XD. This could be Arvind Bhat's tournament, probably his career best if he clinches it. Even before it's played, the MZ-HKV clash is already designated the MS Match of the Day...hmmm, how did the organizer know in advance, prescience?. N Jindapon upset her colleague Busanan, the WS field is now up for grabs, all four semifinalists stand a chance to step onto the winner's podium tomorrow. Maneepong, well,he's having a good run so far, featured in both MD and XD in the SFs. Goh/Lim failed to live up to their billing so soon, stumbled yesterday, whilst their compatriots Tan/Hoon marches on after narrowly tipping over the KOR Ko/Shin whose partnership may be a bit raw coming into this tournament. WDs have one surprise semifinalist in the NED Eefjie/Selena who did well to oust the KOR 3rd seed Jang/Kim yesterday but they are up against the top seed JPN Misaki/Ayaka in the SF. Will the Dutch exploits continue today? Or will it be a bridge too far for them?
SEMIFINALS (2.30pm, 2 courts) => http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...C62064-9573-4195-B7EB-265662B7326D&d=20140301 Marc Zwiebler is the only hope for host Germany to grab title, let's see whether he can do it. Arvind Bhat shows impressive performance here to eliminate Hu Yun, Axelsen and possible he will advance into last round. Both Maneepong and Kim Ha Na did good job to secure semifinal ticket in two categories. Will they continue until finale? For INA viewers LIVE TV coverage : STAR Sports will telecast on 20.30 WIB tonight (court 1 matches).
