I saw the PDF spec, The new racket NR-Glanz is 4U, 17-22lbs, and the hitting is 'extra soft' , OMG. and it is recommanded to new or middle-level players.

That's interesting, several new rackets. The ones marked new are VT80ETN, VT70ETN, NR220, NR-GZ, MP15 and ARC21. Apart from VT80ETN they're all marked as beginner or intermediate rackets though.

Looked around a bit more, ARC21 is actually ARC2i, which explains why it's for beginners (21 sounds more like a top model :p). There's also a new ARC9LG. Not that this is relevant in this thread :p

But why so pricey? Beginners aren't gonna spend this much on a racket.

Is it me or is the NR-GZ's frame REALLLLLLY HUGE?

Based off eye comparisons it's like wider than the NR900/800 even! What the....?

EDIT*: Oh and it comes with its own special cloth bag with Yonex written lengthways instead of the normal way.... *chuckles*

Off Topic: If everyone always calls a Victor L a Victor Ladies... would LG be an Arc 9 Little Girls?

On Topic: I wonder if Yonex is expecting more beginner/intermediate level players with a higher income to enter the market. Or if Yonex is actually creating rackets specifically designed to cater to newer players, with the advent of Glanz...

LG is for long I think, it's a beginner racket but "10mm long", i.e. 675mm

Here's a better look at it:

The head is enormous! Good to see the 2+4 pattern again, though.

Well fellas, guess what, the press release blurb is out. To be released April 2015.

Why the high price and HUGE frame, along with such "weakass-low" warrantied tensions?

BECAUSE... It's targeted at SENIORS! Old folks, y'know!

Rexil Fiber helps old folks, whose backhand is weak, generate more force and twist to make the shuttle fly further in a backhand stroke.

GlanZ is wider but narrower at the top half of the frame (think BS series maybe?) and stubbier plus using aero + box frame at the bottom half.
Large sweet spot helps seniors to hit better; unlike professionals who hits shuttles at the one spot most of the time. (hoo, competitors is the word they chose *lol*)
And lastly, Yonex reckons that a backhand contact (I'm guessing clear) happens at 65° frame angle to shuttle, so they made the top less air resistant to increase swing speed.

From my understanding of Yonex JP article.

So.... I've old folks here using VT80 and ZF1's....... hmmm.....

My have the same racquet now (I traded my Voltric 80 for a nr900 mint) what a steal! I really love it I feel like I can clear really effortlessly however tension in using is pretty high like 26.5 /:

I guess that does make sense. Japanese people are very respectful to their elders and what better way to honor them than create a badminton racket for them :D

I find NR900 tends to play better at higher string tension
Strung it with BG66F@27lbs and felt much better than BG66U@25lbs :)

I guess if you are indeed interested, you would fall into their target audience.... but luckily, you aren't! :D

Talk about major misnomer, most if not all their target audience would have failing glands...
