Badminton Bonanza in Milton Keynes

I just tried the Satellite because there were about 5-6 players from here going but in the end it was just me and Neil :(

In my right mind - don't you read Badders anymore :D

I will play social singles and League doubles. (oops they are on at the same time) darn it

Anyone got any pointers on nearby hotels (with a bar and fast food outlets nearby)?

lol - i've not looked at badders for ages.. i shoudl do really.

hmmm - if you wanna enter the social singles i'm sure i'll get a partner from somewhere else. partner wanted is as good a laugh as any, and it means i meet a whole bunch of other people too.. :D

i've not looked at hotels yet, but i'm in the same position.. if i find anything that looks reasonable i'll post here..

Neil

hi all, there are a stack of hotels within 10 minutes of the NBC, all are around the £50 per night price though which is quite pricey. i would guess Phil that you'd be travelling down on the friday afternoon/evening. myself i will prolly travel down on the saturday morning and just stay over the one night.

If anybody else finds any cheaper deals post the here!

thanks

Neil

I looked at the sites and the majority are about 5 miles from the centre (hilton and travel inn) to name a couple of the more famous, this one is 0.6 miles from the centre according to a source:

No matter where you go they are all around the £50-£60 area per night.

I have decided to bite the bullet and just go for the competitive section (although I have the bad memories of the Conrnwall Satellite 15-2, 15-1 defeat in the singles, done slightly better in the plate though 15-12-15-8 just narrowly missing out on another game)

If you are still up for it I'm game, I'll just need to do a bit of work on stamina (a big bit)

As far as I know there is another 6-8 of us but they are havering at the moment as to travelling down, I just happen to think these things are fun and should be used as you suggest to meet new faces and make some new badminton friends, it's also good to put faces to the names in a few cases!

I'll book flights and accommodation next week.

glad to hear it, i wouldn't worry too much, i'm not the worlds fittest player, pretty average really. There shouldn't be any supersonic players there that are gonna thrash anybody to a couple of points.

I imagine you'll give me a run for my money if we have to play each other in the singles.

i'll post my form off asap and book accomodation shortly..

see you there partner :D

Hoi, you'll be old some day too :p

well true, but you'll still be older...:p

altho with my back trouble you'd think i was mid 50's already :(

anyway - back on topic.

who else is joining us on our jolly jaunt to the NBC

huraah - put my entry in the post today - should easily make it for the deadline date.

i've put you down as my partner for mens doubles phil,

i've put partner required for mixed so if any ladies want to enter, you nevber know - you might just get me :)

i've also entered the singles - prolly get tanned tho - since i'm rubbish at singles..

Singles and levels only for me, my entry will be in the post as soon as I remember to get bloody stamps having just managed to secure the half day off on Friday to get down to MK.

I'm quite looking forward to losing easily in the singles as well :(

Neil N are you planning on making the trip?
