Good move. Never buy a Sigma lens NEW since the 2nd hand value of it is so low.

wow, that's a huge jump from your old canon. What's that thing at the bottom, extra battery or external motor drive?

i also sold my D70 yesterday at a pretty good price of $500. more than offset the cost of the Sigma. :)

too bad as it means i don't have a second body to post the pic of my new toy... erm.. i mean weapon...

Trying to go on Saturday. Time is a bit tight cos I have to do some teaching, rush to the ferry and get to the stadium. Form the website, the matches start at the a wierd time of 1pm. I mean, how is anybody supposed to get any food down and digest it properly before settling down to watch badminton??

Sharp eyes there Kwun. Nothing much gets past you. I am very impressed with the IS. Compared it to the 24-70/2.8L. Quality is not that much different BUT my hands tremble a bit which negates the benefit of the 24-70 (which is bigger and more expensive). Of course, there is the EF-S vs EF argument but I bought it for present needs rather than future full frame needs.

Cooler, that's a battery grip. I wasn't sure about buying it but there's a special offer in HK. Basically, buy the camera with a specified lens and get 1000HKD rebate and the battery grip is sold cheap at 650HKD (recent price is 1200HKD). Since this is the shop I usually go to, they gave me some discount on the lens and body which made the combination 400 to 500HKD cheaper than buying in Mongkok (that's before the rebate).

I was impressed with the salesguy. I bought my 350D just over a year ago there and he still remembers the equipment I bought including the blower! It's the end shop along Stanley St;) They were telling me a little about the shop. The owner has been dealing in cameras for over 30 years, the newest salesguy has 'only' been there for 10 years.

Just grab a local pork chop bun :D

BY the way, Nikon have released a teaser for the presumable D70x replacement. 10.x megapixels..."more power, more control, more versatility...." more used D70 on ebay :p

Funny you should say that - just bought a couple of char siu bao to eat on the ferry!:p

Hmm Nikon's teaser. Looks interesting. If it's the same sensor as the D200, then the performance at ISO1600 will not quite match Canon's DIGIC in the 350D/20D/30D. Meanwhile, I'll try to get some good pics at Macau.

Cheung, do you have a press pass?

my friend also have the 17-55IS, he found that the IS doesn't work well for badminton due to the amount of panning involved. he said IS actually makes it worse. so if you are taking pics and find that the pics don't come out as expected, turn off the IS and see.

yes. we have talked about it. but we cannot justify the cost of travelling down, lodging, and potentially taking a few days from work. :(

instead, we will go try and take pics during the Berkeley tournament, it will be much more manageable cost and time...

hope you guys will have fun there though.

I set IS mode 2 with my 70-200 f/2.8 for the 1st day of Aviva before they stopped me, and it turned out fined.
