Yup, remember what happened to him in the India Open...! Retired when tied in the second game after having lost the first to RMV Guru! But in LCW's absence, he SHOULD be the favourite. He isn't a terrible player. Just not an excellent one.
At least he "saved" MAS from losing to the Danish team in THOMAS Cup. Give this guy a chance to prove himself, after all how many years left in him.
I heard danielwong & georgechongwei going to hahaha . Yes, they are going to laugh whether HH wins GOLD at the 2010 CWG, or not. For me, if HH doesn't win GOLD at the MS event, I shall be disappointed. .
Hafiz Made It To Headlines in India Commonwealth Games / Badminton: Youth, not Hafiz, hold nation's future News Strait Times 13 October 2010 HAFIZ Hashim's defeat in the men's singles quarter-final was big news yesterday as the dailies praised P. Kashyap for his upset win over the Malaysian. Hafiz's world ranking of 19 was what the Indian newspapers were excited about as Kashyap is only ranked 32nd. Badminton, thanks to Saina Nehwal's rise, is growing in popularity in India but one suspects that it is still not as big as it is in Malaysia. If it was, the Indian newspapers would have known that Hafiz losing to lower ranked players is no longer big news. What makes headlines is when the former All England and Commonwealth Games singles champion actually wins something. In fact, even the most hardcore of Hafiz supporters will find it tough to remember when he last won a tournament of repute and his defeat on Monday meant that there will not be an all-Malaysian singles final for the first time since the 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games. The fact that Hafiz is now not even good enough for a Commonwealth Games medal shows just how drastic his drop has become and one wonders just how long more is the BA of Malaysia willing to invest in a player who is showing no signs of being able to turn his career around. Kashyap described Hafiz as one of the best stroke players in the world and he had a point but the Malaysian isn't winning titles and isn't that what matters at the highest stage? His next big assignment is the Asian Games but does BAM really believe that Hafiz is worth the ticket, especially after not being able to contribute a singles medal in New Delhi? He must be the Malaysian athlete who has been given the most get-out-of jail cards but the time has come for BAM to cut its losses. Hafiz, sadly, has become a liability and it would be better for BAM to start focusing on the younger players. They may not be showing promise hence the dependence on Hafiz but if given adequate opportunities, one or two may rise. After all, this is the least the younger players deserve after the number of chances Hafiz has been given. above article is discussing same topic about Habis Hashim, liability to BAM and chances should be given to younger players.. of coz, media speaks as well...as India is feeling good about P Kashyap win over Habis Hashim...
hashim's days a numbered, when i started to watch him play, he already had a seriously knee issue and his body kept deteriorating on him..
Habis Hasbeen has been bashed for LAZINESSS since 2004... its about 6years now... after 6years, I think he is not actualy lazy but when he won AE2003... its was a fluke... just one of stuffs... he real standard in NOW! anyway.... his AE2003 performance wasnt great!
give the guy something la at least for winning the all england 03 and staying with the malaysian team don't be that cruel. .lol
I watched the game that Habis Hashim lost. I noticed the following : 1. Poor shot selection (He has all the shots, but looks short of ideas. So he chooses the shot that his opponent anticipates) 2. Poor mental strength (Once behind, there is no hope of him turning the game around. He doesn't have the fight or believe that he can do it) 3. High rate unforced error (He looses a whole bunch of points on lobs which are either too short and too long.) 4. He's footwork is slow. (He can't intercept lifts with jump smashes like LCW or LD and he had serious problem retrieving the Indian player's drop shots) 5. He has a one dimensional game. (He doesn't have a plan B if things don't work out, so all his opponents just needs to turn on last month's video to know what to expect from him) Is still hope for him to improve? I say none. You can coach players with poor technique, but you can't coach a player with a mental problem. That's why Misbun gave up on him.
..so, after so many yrs of disappointment and realizing that basically HH has no more hope to improve, what's next for BAM and the coaching staff??..are they going to keep using and sending him to tourneys and see the same result over and over again?..and no, i don't want to read the same reason/excuse of them sending HH because the younger/junior players can't beat him/the senior players in traning..
they must have realized that a looooong time ago. the question is why they keep sending him to tournaments and hoping for the best for all these years? in China, such players would've been cut a long time ago.
Why are the juniors not being selected instead of Hafiz? Do the youths have this mentality???:- 'Let Me Go I want to prove myself / Fight for my country!' I think they don't... They are more likely to have the following fighting spirit:- 1) No, I don't want to represent... I just want to play Open $$$ Tournaments. I don't want national event Pressure... or 2) I don't mind represent... only if they choose me. If not i'll just play dumb / silent...
