Matches are relatively on time thanks to the withdrawals. TS finally updating on time. Was not earlier. BC'er Nick Bonkowsky on court but having it tough against Shatenko (a Canadian!) 3-11
it'll be a a good win for young Nyl Yakura if he can beat the experienced Scottish dude, Alistair Casey.
Jenna Gozali/Komala Dewi will play their first match tomorrow against Suneeta Khare/Ha Luong. If they win, they will face Takeisha Wang/Josephine Wu for a place in the SF against the home favorite Alex Bruce/Michelle Li or Koharu Yonemoto/Miki Yuriko. It will be a tremendous achievement if they can progress to the Final. Let's see.
This was a match that could have gone either way. Nyl pulled back to 19-19 in the rubber but then made a couple of unforced errors to hand the match to Casey. Casey fell to his knees like he'd won Wimbledon, haha.
Lots of pretty insipid efforts this afternoon and I swear people were nodding off. Anyway, I am back home for a bit then going back to the Oval later to catch a bit of the evening session.
Livescore has stopped updating. At least for me. The Yakura-Casey match is forever locked at 4-3 in the third set. __________ With no big international names involved in the Canadian Open, I'm going to put my cheers behind Dr. Suneeta Khare, the pathologist from Ontario who must be as old as I am, yet is out there competing on the national /international stage.
Bumped into poor old Nick Bonkowsky who admitted Sergiy was way too sharp and pounced on his every mistake. The Ng brothers, Toby & Derrick on court up 5-4 on TPE pair.
The sole representative of Myanmar here, Aung Ye Min passes first round def. local player K.Tamasauskas in rubber games.
It was a tough time Sergiy is levels above my play I simply could not win rallies against him. I was to inconsistent, to inexpirenced, didn't play the right strategy and all that led to many unforced errors by me. All in all I am mad yet happy at the same time, mad that the score was so low, happy that I was able to have some decent rallies with him.
Kento Momota was clearly a popular figure at the Asian Junior Championships according to Badzine, so get some good pics and autographs of him Madbad(Kel), not just the pretty women ok? haha Kento Momota may have a tough match against the #1 seed, the "Giant Killer" Henri Hurskainen, who has been playing really well the last few months.
There is always jyeung to save the day. Don't worry, the cuties will still be there waiting for you in the SF . But you may miss some good matches during these couple of days. The Canadian juniors seem rather strong, given the resilience against established names, as seen in the scores. Shizuka Uchida will need to pull out all her reserves to beat the in-form PHM.
Haha, I have been less than impressed but these are the opportunities you need to take when they present themselves. The field will be much stronger next year (no Olympics) and many of these Juniors won't even get a sniff of the qualifying draw. Looking at Nozomi's path, she is likely to cross swords with fellow Japanese players all the way to the final. Can't wait to see her. Uchida is doing fine right now against PHM, 16-10
