Knock yourself out. I know you guys can't handle her but it was the sudden exasperation that got me curious, I mean she hadn't even been on court for a week when it was written, that was all. On the point of the tennis grunts, actually many of the actual players were openly vocal about their complaint on this, as it was not a grunt for power or anything because in practice you would never hear a peep, it was just mind games for in tournament play. That was the pro players/opponents point of view anyway. Interestingly there was a few euro ladies in support of marin, especially when the cards situation happened and I know she is friends with the thai(especially ri ) and indo ladies. She actually seems popular on the whole with the tour players more so than most, maybe the most friends on tour. (obvious there are the odd exception). What do yall think?
Have the Chinese players openly spoke about it off court? I doubt they are offended in any way either, in fact wsx has upped her game in this department and I salute her for this, always looking for a way to improve unbelievable hardworker.
HK Open organizers seems to be very nice to CM: 1st rd: P.V. Sindhu 2nd rd: Akane Yamaguchi 3rd rd: Wang SX (if she didn't withdraw) 4th rd: WYH or SJH Final: RI or Nozomi Okuhara
CM is a very promising player and for person coming from Spain and dominating the Womens Badminton circuit is something remarkable. I salute her for the achievement she has made in Badminton. But I would also like to see her being more mature and sensible with her on court antics. CM would win her matches even without screaming at her opponents so why waste her energy and in the process become unpopular. There are many youngsters watching this sport and many have CM as their role model. Youngster in their anxiety to replicate their role model might start screaming at their opponents and would end up being disrespectful to their opponents thereby destroying sportsmanship in young minds. CM you would win even without screaming at her opponent
Is there posts missing in this thread ? Are you discussing with someone or just randomly ranting. Only problem with what you say is she is not screaming at her opponent. She is just screaming to help herself. She screams the same when playing against her great friend corrales, think about it. Also the think of the the children comment??? Shouting and all of that has been in the junior halls now for a long time marin is actually a product not a trailblazer with this whole modern sportsmanship. Keep or take away marin and nothing will change it is too widespread now both pro and amateur. Don't hate the player hate the game. (Or at least hate all the players)
Well for sportsmanship problem, I saw how Zwiebler treats his enemy (mainly from lower rank). Just see the last bitburger open. Or Jan O J, or even Lin Dan sometimes. What Marin does with shouting is only one problem.. Before, she sometimes didn't even bother to return the shuttle. She developed at least. At least she doesn't really grunts like the tennis players.
Bo/Moe, Kamilla Rytter Juhl, sometimes ZYL and VA (he has the capability to kill a man by only staring him) to name a few although M Zweibler seems to be a true sportsman to me
Nothing wrong with staring, glaring, even swearing under your breath or in your mind. But of those players, Bo/Moe crosses the line when they sneer/jeer and point their fingers at their opponents when they win a hard fought rally. No other players that I know behave like that. VA just glares, nothing wrong there. So as his opponent, just look away. ZYL also crosses the line with her raised fists and shouting towards the opponents after a hard rally. Often times she does this after a killer smash by her boyfriend ZN while he doesn't even utter a sound. Like WTH?!
I don't have problem with her screaming after each point, but the way she scooped the birdie back to her opponent. Like when Okuhara was standing on the left hand side serving court, and she scooped the birdie to the right hand side in front of the net. Sayaka Takahashi did that often too. That's very unprofessional.
This was Marin's yellow card. A deliberate way to delay play. Fascinating the way she used this to her advantage to change the run of play.
Lots of pros do it. I guess it's partly to annoy their opponents and partly to gain a little extra time to walk around and have a breather.
He should have given a black card. The yellow was for a previous offence and while the yellow was being produced, she walked off court without permission...!
