I think MAS should keep same line up as the SF. KKK/CEH is more experienced than CPS/GLY and I dun think MAS will gamble with an inexperienced pair, esp its gonna be the 1st match and that too in front of a highly partisan IND crowd.
Also, as most agreed, IND wud have the advantage in WS and WD.
So, the strategy for MAS is to win XD, MS and MD and try not to let the tie go down to the last match i.e the WD.

LCW 'toyed' with Derek Wong in SF

I had no chance to watch how LCW 'toyed' with Derek Wong as someone had claimed, but surprisingly the website gave a detailed analysis of both matches which did not reveal any hint of this. In fact this must be Derek's most promising result against a top-ranked player, with him winning 19 points and 18 points respectively in the two games.

    Match 1

LCW led most of the way till point 11 when DW responded from 6 to catch up 11-all before losing service to allow LCW take the lead to 13. DW suddenly woke up not only to catch up but extended his lead to 15, a good 4-point difference. The score see-sawed after that but DW managed a last-minute spurt to 19 before LCW showed his prowess and experience to clinch the first game from 18-19 down, winning 4 points in a row. I think DW had squandered a rare chance to take the game when leading 19-17. I hope he has learnt his lesson.

    Match 2

The second game seemed more even and less exciting as only a maximum 3 points separated them, unlike in the first when DW led with a 5-point advantage. from point 7-11. But when DW managed his last point at 18-19, LCW quickly wrapped up the game and match with two consecutive points. This is experience in action.

But as I have said, this is a good outing for DW, the son of past SEA Games singles champion Wong Shoon Keat. DW could only improve and become a better player from here onwards. ;)

No, I dun think LCW was toying with DW at all. If anything I think he was trying to close out the match soonest possible. But I think after coming here with a high of beating LD in winning the Japan Super Series, he had to motivate himself to get back to that level of competition or form again.
But having said that, you can always feel that LCW still had something in reserve and that's why he can close out the games towards the end of each game when the scores were pretty close.

I don't think Chetan would be given chance. If my understanding is correct, Kashyap was asked to play MS against England just because Indian coaches Gopichand and Atik think Chetan is too rusty now and highly unpredictable. And given the chances that any Indian MS player has against mighty LCW, it is better they allow P Kashyap to take some lessons.:D

I don't think LCW toyed with Derek, only on 1st gear most of the match, engaged 2nd gear in the closing stages of both games and like they say, the rest is history. LCW also disputed two line calls that went against him, which he was right. This shows his seriousness towards the game. LCW didn't come out with all guns blazing to finish both game in double quick time and was probably giving the audience some of their money's worth and Derek some confidence (with this kind of scoreline) for his future challenge.

Derek Wong has the right attitude. I am a bit disappointed with LCW, seemed overconfident, underestimated Derek, something which I don't really like to see in a player... he doesn't look very interested, seem to like to look at the other court a lot...
Derek Wong has an effective crosscourt smash but nets it plenty.

Other than that, am I the only person who wants to suggest that we use Lydia Cheah in WS and dump CEH in XD? CEH was... distinctly unimpressive. KKK is good for XD though.

    Reply for off topic post

Malaysia just blew away the 2-0 lead they had against England.
They are now tied 2-2. And in last match, yet again, Sock Ng blew away her 2-0 lead to be even 2-2 against Sealby.
Sock Ng looks very tired and uninspired. And no support from her team and worst of all the usual bunch of Malaysian fans is also missing.
