Match Report - Arsenal v AC Milan

Having been lucky enough to get a ticket I was at the Emirates this evening. It's my first trip to the Emirates Stadium and I have to say that I thought the stadium was incredible! Highbury had a kind of vintage (old!) class to it but the Emirates is truly a wonder!

I thought we dominated the game and could easily have won by 2-3 goals. The defence stood tall and the Italians didn't have a decent shot on target.

The good points are that we tackled and pressurised in a way that we didn't against ManU and the Italians were left trying to pick up scraps. The outfield players all diod their jobs and the only letdown was Lehman's poor distribution. Adebayor had a golden chance fromn about 5 yards in the last few seconds but his header went wide. I didn't see what happened as the guy in front of me stood up just as Adebayor headed it!

All in all a pretty entertaining 0-0 draw even though it was so cold my hands went numb!

EPL, not BPL! Scotland has it's own league and I think Northern Ireland does too! Congrats to Raul, he's making it harder and harder for him to be kept out of the national team.

Barclays Premier League is right. In fact, the Premier League has made it compulsory to call it the BPL instead of the EPL in their trademark agreement this season?

    i'm here sis..
i watched the game but at the beginning of the match was soo boring..
the only excitement on 1st half was when materazzi was sent off..:D
Liverpool was controlling about 60% possession but couldn't get the goal..
but somehow i knew Liverpool will deliver judging the way they played. after kuyt scored, the game became alive and gerrard's score was superb..

Liverpool have the knack of turning off against lesser opponents, only to turn on the style when faced against the continent's best - in 2005 we were paired against Juventus (best team) and were not given a sniff of chance; in 2006 we crashed out against Benfica; in 2007 Barcelona (best team) was humbled at home; and now 2008 Inter, 2 - 0 aggregate advantage.

Not bad for a team that can't beat Barnsley.

    Oops, my mistake! Sorry Babystar.

Looks like all the English teams did OK. Let's hope it's the same on the return legs.

i worry for arsenal. the returning leg would be an away game. to the host of the champions league. and without any goals at home, it's gonna be hard. the plus point was that we did not concede any goals. :) and lehmann are not performing well. we need a good goalie.

Yes, "an exciting 0-0 draw" does sound a bit strange! I suppose there's not many sports where a game can end up 0-0. One of the quirks of football!

Saw the last half hour of the game - speedy attackers of Arsenal were thwarted by Milan's past-retirement aged defenders with ease, something which I'd attribute to excellent defensive awareness. This is what I admire the most about AC Milan - their tactical synergy is a sign that the new era of athleticism in football hasn't completely wiped out the importance of good footballing brains.

If Adebayour's last second header had been a little lower, it might've been a different story.

I know what you mean about their defence Wilfred and I may well be biased (!) but although I thought their defence were solid but I also thought our shooting was pretty woeful. We had a few good shots but they were either straight at the keeper or wide. Eboue especially had a golden opportinuty but couldn't even hit the target!

In some ways we might fare better in Milan were the Italians will come out a bit more. Hopefully we can expose their lack of pace at the back!

Speaking of Eboue - I know of strikers, wingers and attackers going down like they're shot but he's probably the only fullback I know who does it regularly. Serves him right for that yellow!
