Some Indonesian players look like Chinese; Some look like Indians; Some look like Indonesians...

Any people know, or have the sources for each INA players' ethnicity ? Thanks.

It's a stupid system imop. If they re-draw, no team should be able to play against the other team from their group. Really, how hard can it be to come up with a decent system? Also, with the bwf finally growing some balls during the OG I don't think any team will try losing on purpose again so soon.

IMHO, it's good to use draw instead of pre-arranged. But for the next opponent of the 1st seed China, should be randomly picked within Denmark, Thailand and Germany. INA should be excluded because they had met before in the group.

Elimination after grouping, is to make the results more balanced. The biggest advantage is to avoid the 2nd best team eliminated in early rounds. It simply doesn't make any sense to let the 2 teams play twice.

China team got hurt the most by this method. Playing again, means that the first 5:0 win by China invalid. The 1st round doesn't count at all.

The purpose to win in group is to meet a weaker opponent next round. If still playing the same opponent, there's no need to win in the group. If playing the same opponents, the winner should be decided by best of 3, instead of the winner of the last round.

i was thinking about the same thing during shower this morning (I am serious :) ). and i do think that's the way it should be done.

or perhaps put the 2nd place from the top half (group 1A/1B) and random draw against 1st place of bottom half (group 1C/1D).

that's what we did in a corporate team tournament last weekend.

Seems like your corporate tournament was organised by more capable people than the Sudirman Cup :D

Definitely. It depends on the math, logic, and IQ of the organizer. I haven't seen BWF or WBF got any talents in math and logic thinking for 3 decades.

Maybe we should have the 1st place and 2nd place teams in separate pots, and have a 1st team play a 2nd team. This way, two teams won't re-play each other, and there is a clear advantage in becoming 1st in your group.

It was (co-)run by me. :)

Honestly though, there is no one perfect way to do things and not everything comes out the way it should be. As a result, objections and disagreement to all minors things comes out all the time.

Indonesia should try to get the 3 points from MD, XD and WS. I don't see them overcoming CL and YY/WXL.

And I don't see them overcoming the MD or WS either....maybe if China let CY/FHF play and one gets injured. But still, that would be the absolute worst case for China. The WD/WS/MS are all theirs to take - they just have to perform under the pressure of expectation, but by now the respective players should be used to winning as favorites.

just try to be realistic, i think if we can steal two or even one match from CHN, it's already a good result, despite that PBSI targeted semifinal fro Sudirman cup, INA can only steal from MD, that's my prediction, reflecting that CHN XD performance, i think they would still win even vs Towi/Butet in rubber game. MS, WS and WD are still definitely out of content to challenge

Exactly. I think XD has the highest chance, and MD after that.
WS: There might be a slight chance if Lindaweni, asumming she's playing, can repeat her AE performance (winning over WYH).
MS: INA might give a good fight but I don't think they can win it.
WD: Total Destruction by WXL/YY :D

Anyway, whatever the outcome I hope INA player will learn from it and get better.

I bet CHN will put LXR again in the lineup knowing full well INA will have Lindaweni in WS. CHN can't afford another upset. CHN can't get a guarantee win from XD and MD. They definitely will put their best players in WS, MS and WD (WXL/YY no doubt).

    Uber Cup 2010 ;)
On paper, INA winning point will be determined by XD, MD and WS (if Lindaweni plays superbly against most likely Li XR). If one of those three disciplines is gone then we must be sent packing tomorrow. CHN has two certain points here through MS (Chen Long) and WD (Wang XL/Yu Y).

Yeah... Agree with all above posts. INA only chance of stealing points are only from XD, MD and WS.
