Kashyap Parupalli clarifies that his move to Bangalore is temporary for a few months. Kashyap has been undergoing rehabilitation and training with Tom John for the past two months.

    Kashyap
"It has been a difficult time for me since I injured my knee in the run up to the Olympics. It was disappointing to miss out of Rio. So I thought I should do something different to get back to shape. So I came down to Bangalore and have been training here under Tom John in his academy. I wanted to train with Deckline Leitao at Bangalore and that was the main reason of coming here. I will go back to Hyderabad after a few tournaments next month,”

@Cheung Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Today as Sania and Leander were wrapping up their US Open preparation by playing ATP and WTA finals, the 4 year fans were busy with the least important format of cricket in a hurriedly made up inconsequential series in a non-traditional cricket destination.

I hv seen. In Rio itself. Dipa generated far more buzz in media and social media. In Bangkok 98, everyone stopped cricket for Hockey. Last WC and AE finals were well watched. PWL drew more eyeballs than IPL.

Problem isnt children playing. Prob is lack of structure and dropping out and parents/society/schools and inherent fear ingrained in athletes themselves, esp girls.

I'm referring to the fact that you used quotation marks around win, when winning a silver medal is indeed a win. The fact that the last match was a loss doesnt invalidate the entire tournament.

No. It doesnt. ML, TTY, "WANG ****IN YIHAN", NO.... Beating anyone of these makes it a week to remwmber... And Sin beat all 4 in one week... Great job no doubt.... But unfortunately theres only 1 winner.... And thats not her.

I still wonder why she is not playing well in superseries tournaments.
Once she enters bigger tournaments, she is playing like a beast. Why don't she have that josh when she is playing normal tournaments.

    1. She is not scared by occassion.
    2. Is more consistent.

Because weapons wise, she isnt adding anything.... If you look at her last 5 opponents, including Marin... all 5 r known to play at higher level in normal tourneys.

well,I don't know what happened in Bangkok 98 as I was a kid back then. From what I've seen,Sindhu generated much more buzz on social media than Dipa. Which WC and AE finals are you referring to?

Badminton World Championship? No way. I know many ppl who never even watched badminton before but were watching this Olympics semis, finals. For the first time, most of my twitter TL was tweeting/ppl on fb posting about a badminton match and even my office colleagues were discussing about badminton. This is the first time I seen all this. I don't recall ppl talking much about WC Final in Jakarta. One thing is for sure, viewership of this Olympics final must surely be the highest ever for any badminton match in India

Dunno mate. Heard this in 2001. In 2006. In 2008. In 2009-2012 and beyond. Am sure we will hear this in 2024 even if we win 5 Badminton Golds at Tokyo...
I am from the Gopi generation. And I have seen the Saina generation express the very same sentiments. Although I always knew, Gopi was no where near the 1st. Not even Prakash or Nandu.... Badminton was HUUUUGGGGEEEEE in India even before Prakash was born... Same not true for Gymnastics of Synchronised Swimming or Water Polo or Velodrome Cycling
