$2,000 for shuttles??? is that US$??.. cause thats at least about 100 high quality shuttles/tubes for the year...
More like 150-175 tubes in 6 months. I go through about 1 tube per day and on Saturdays when I play for 5+ hours, usually two tubes. What can I say? I'm a bird killer. The worst was going through 10 birds in one game, 20 birds in total, I supplied 10 and the opponents supplied 10. Lots of smashes in that game.
The opponents do 50/50. My partner and I share 50/50 as well. One game it's him, one game it's me, it's easier that way. Sometimes if the opponents are students or less well off, I just supply the shuttles. For me it's no big deal; as long as the opponents are nice people, I don't mind.
Badminton costs about 1300$ to join my club. Plus shoes 100-150$ Plus raquettes 100-300$ (2 or 3 times) The shuttles and courts are in the price But for people who want to try it out, for their first time, it can be quite inexpensive.
LOL!!! Madman... you should start a cooperative and start buying at wholesale prices... on the other hand... maybe we should use you as the official reviewer of shutlles for badmintoncentral.. the way you go thru shuttles, we can have test results very fast
I would very much like to review shuttles but I have noticed, with the exception of the top premium shuttles such as Victor Champion # 1 (aka Saint Lee), Yonex AS-50, Yang-Yang 300B, HL Champion, Aeroplane EG1130 and SG1130, MMOA Ultra Select, et. al., the lessor "$15/tube and less" shuttles are relatively inconsistent in quality. Some can be great one time and the next time they can be terrible. Flight is always OK to decent but the durability is very inconsistent so it's hard for me to rate shuttles. The best example is the DHS-302. 6 months ago, I purchased about 30 tubes from a late 2004 shipment and they were excellent. For $10/tube, you could not find a better shuttle. However, another person purchased the same shuttle from an early 2005 shipment and it was not nearly as durable but still OK to good whereas my shuttles were very good in durability. Fast foward 6 months and I purchase 20 tubes of the lastest shipment (September 2005) and the 302s were terrible. So bad I could not believe it. I purchased some of the DHS-201 Tourney Grade shuttles which were much better but still not as good as the original 302s I purchased 6 months ago. Go figure. The above scenario has happened for most of the shuttles I have tried. So, I'm reluctant to "review" shuttles now. My best recommendation on shuttles is this, anything that is higher than practice grade is going to fly decently well and can be used for regular games to (sometimes, depending on the shuttle) even Tourney Events. However, with respect to durability, caveat emptor; best to try the shuttle yourself and see because your weather conditions, shipping, shuttle born on date, etc... can all affect the shuttle. Something I say is good could be bad because of these things. Finally, a few people do this, they buy 1 or 2 tubes of a recommended shuttle, play with it and determine if it meets their requirements. Once that's determined then they give me the "go" and I find the born on date of the shuttle and get them that shuttle from that born on date. That's the safest way. Hope this helps.
Off the top of my head: 3 MP100s (1 cracked, 2 sold) 6 MP99s (2 cracked, 3 sold, still have 1) 1 MP88 (cracked the handled) 3 NS7000s (2 cracked, 1 traded) 1 NS8000 (sold) 4 AT800OFs (3 traded, still have 1) 1 DHS 3000 (selling: $70) 1 DHS 2000 (selling: $65) 1 Kason Lepton F2 (sold) 1 Kason Carvel U4 (sold) 6 Ti10s (3 traded for, 3 purchased, my go to racket) 2 Bad R Us Evolution 777 (both sold) 2 RSL Millenium X-1 (both sold) 1 Blacken (still have but selling) 1 Aerotus (sold) 1 Choice of Champions (sold) 1 Cab 20 (sold) 1 Wilson NCode N1 (sold) And about 5-10 more obscure rackets I can't recall right now.
i have similar experience too. The more so (inconsistency) with lesser known brands shuttle. Dont want to sound like promoting yonex shuttles but it is one brand that is most consistent (relatively speaking) although they do cost a bit more. I havent triy the high end airplane yet so i dont know this one.
The Aeroplane SG1130 I tried was good but I felt the shuttle seemed a bit light weight compared to other Tourney Grade Shuttles. It was a good shuttle but nothing to write home about. I've only played with a few tubes of AS-40 and AS-50. I notice the flight is extremely consistent and the durability very good but not as good as the Yang-Yang 300B or MMOA Ultra Select.

Two types of clubs here in Bulgaria: * Professional clubs, sponsored by the Federation, where you go as a kid (8-13) and do not pay anything (except shoes) and where you are trained seriously, go on tours and so on... I used to play in such a club when I was 11-14. ** Amateur clubs -- for people who like to play badminton. Here nothing is for free. Professional grade court costs about 9 USD (up to 4 players) and there is no time limit for you to play. We organize amateur competitions and have a lot of fun
You're so lucky because you only pay $9USD to play as long as you like. All the places i play at we pay court hire by hourly use
