KKK/TBH will overtake FHF/CY in the rankings as long as they do 1 round better than the CHN pair in WC - there are only 440 points separating them before adding WC points. Also as long as they reach QF, MK/HS cannot overtake even if MK/KS won.

Would be a tremendous achievement to get to No 1 within 10 months of formation!

    Counting chickens before they hatc.....

As chinese phrase : "To reach the peak of the hill is easy, but to remain it there it will be a process much more harder than climb to the Top." Hopes they will maintain it..

I fink nobody knows how the ranking points works exactly. KKK/TBh won more than 1 SS.. They are far more consistent than other pairs excluding Feng Yun only in the world at the moment..
They will overtake Feng yun soon if they remain this kinda forms.. But in 1 week time? I really doubts?

    FHF/CY 78124 points - 10000 (they were champs last year) = 68124 + WC
    KKK/TBH 69884- 2220 (their worst points of last 10 dropped) = 67664 + WC

    Diff 68124-67664 = 460 pts

If KKB/TBH go 1R better and reach at least QF (min 6600 points i.e. min 67664 + 6600 = 74264) they make up the difference with FHF/CY and also MK/HS cannot overtake.

    MK/HS 64430 - 3600 (worst points dropped) = 60830 + 12000 win=72830 max

With BWF recent record of ignoring rulebook - I hope ranking calcs don't get change next week without warning!

Well, KKK/TBH started to collect IBF ranking points from Thomas cup, May 7th, 2006 which was more than 1 year ago.

Their individual ranking points from October 15th, 2006. Now they have a chance to achieve the #1 ranking if they do better next week than Cai/Fu.

But Zheng Bo/Gao Ling started to collect point January 21, 2007, this year. They already took the #1 ranking early last month (in a little bit more than 6 months), by playing only 7 tournaments. Comparing them, KKK/TBH have already played 10 tournaments (the maximum), and took 5 months more than Zheng/Gao to just have a chance to grab the #1 which Zheng/Gao already got last month.

Of course KKK/TBH are fabulous players, but unlike Zheng/Gao, they stopped rolling suddenly, don't know the exact reason behind. Hope they do well this time with their home court advantage.

Zheng/Gao seem not be as good as before either. They lost to Xie ZB/Zhang YW recently. Maybe Zheng/Gao is still as good as before, but Xie ZB is in a super form now, or just because Xie has recovered from his injuries as he claimed.

Eventually the winning streak of Gao Ling/Zheng Bo will end, just hope it doesn't happen on the main event like World Championship. Remember Kim Dong Moon/Ra Yuming was unbeatable and on route to win the Olympic Gold then the unpredicted outcome happened, they lost in early round :crying:

Lin Dan, Chen Hong, and Bao CL were other examples. They won everything and took top 3 positions in the ranking heading into Olympics, but all of them failed in early rounds, and all of them came from the same country.

So we can not judge players just by one tournament of just Olympics. Ji Xingpeng got gold at Olympics, Zhang Jun even got 2 golds, and swept all major titles, but it is still hard to say Zhang Jun were better than Kim DM.

Being #1 in the world ranking just a bonus, what's more important is to win more majors. Being WR#1 without WC or Olympic is not convincing. It's just like Roger Federer, being WR#1, without Grand Slams.

    Here is a survey...

How many of you here have ever said that Lin Dan ranking at world #1 for 3 years means nothing? If so, please do us a favor and slap yourself in the face:p
