LCW lost again...

OK, fair enough :) I always hear the commentators only glorify the players' big titles, such as OG, AG, WC, AE (the Grand Slam)... eg: XXZ was won the WC in xxxx year... Taufik was the OG2008 and AG 2002/2006 champion... etc... BOLEH :)

but y they didnt mention about MR YOYO ... he is the who win the ALL ENGLAND before LD & LCW. should we count him in?
that was oledi pass man...after 4yr no one will talk about lcw/ld anymore...
may b that time u will say chen long is the best / daren liew may b...ha ha ha

.
Sorry to disagree. :o:o:o

Because LCW has won many SS tournaments in many different countries, many Badminton fans worldwide remember LCW more than other top players.

It's like what we see is what we remember; what we hear is often forgotten much earlier.
.

I disagree, more people will know Lin Dan because he is the greatest player of all time, while Lee Chong Wei should be one of the few Malaysian sportsmen who can remain in Malaysian's hearts for those who have been through his era.

LCW's only problem is that he was born close to the time LD was.

If there was no LD around, LCW's achievements and championships would be monumental. Unfortunately for LCW and his fans, that's not the case.

it is not a misfortune. it is part of the time and era. there will always be someone who is as strong or stronger than you. instead of hoping that competition do not exist, one must instead go back and work on what one can do to improve yourself. otherwise you will forever be branded as a loser.

LCW can win many SS tournaments... but 10yrs after his retirement, we'll only remember one title which he won: All England 2010... sad but true... still BOLEH?
Sad but true really....

Since the commentators cannot really pinpoint out a specific superseries as a major achievement really... sinc etheya re all just superseries.

In fact, that is reflected in LD's interview.. that he is lucky to play in the era of PG, TH and LCW. They helped him become stronger.

All-England. ;) But I don't hear them saying LCW the current All-England champion as much as saying LCW has won 8 out of 11 tournaments he has participated in this year...

Yah but I mean a few years down the track, what would he be more remembered for?
AE2010 or winning a lot of superseries that year?

Agree... For his achievements, all MAS should be proud of... let's hope that 10yrs down the road, the commentator will still glorify LCW's achievement in 2010 by winning 7-8 (not too sure) titles... but lost in TC (to LD) and AG (also to LD)... BOLEH :)

If they are the same commentators who have watched LCW played, then they will not forget.

I can be very sure of this. :):):)

Why? It's because we remember longer from what we see, more than from what we hear/read.

An good example is TXH. To he was a top player (because I have watched him played). But so many times at BC, we have BCers asking - Who is TXH?

Why worry so much mate??? In a few years time whether LCW will be remembered or not is not important at least to people like you right!! So why asking?

Instead where would you be in a few years time and how would you be remembered... at least by BCers?;)

Sure Lcw is better, but down the years people will note that CJ has won WC and AE.
And if lcw starts going downhill as he gets older and cj starts beating him more then it will become more evident.

Boleh la.. people will also remember him as Mas best ever singles player also.. after he retired, ppl will still remember him as our datuk who always the lone survivor carrying mas flag in international tournament. sad but true also..

no doubt this claim is debatable, is datuk better den rashid sidek? who was the original jaguh kampung or village champion (even winning the Thomas Cup after defeating Zhao and Ardy) or maybe it is tan aik huang? or hafiz? all-england champion.

to me datuk is 3rd best boleh-land player.
No.1 - Rashid Sidek
No. 2 - Tan Aik Huang
No.3 - Datuk

hmm,just winning thomas cup..

Look at LCW, won so many international tournaments, plus all england.. OG runner up, Asian Games Runner Up, SS finale winner, winner of mas open 6 or 7 times in a row. He fought so well in many tournaments for Mas though. I also read somewhere Rashid also claimed that LCW is the best mas men's single player.

yes, the debate will still go on.

If you are not worry then why all those silly questions on how LCW would be remembered?? It does not make sense don't you think?

Beside worrying, I can see you trying very hard in degrading LCW in order to make his fans feel hurt. I am one myself and ouch... I am hurt now! I can't sleep tonight!;)

BTW, the smiley icon you added doesn't look natural.:)

Time to close this thread. LCW lost period. LD is exceptional player LCW a special one. TH too exceptional but is in semi retirement mode. No need to debate why he lost or whatever.

Morten Frost, Luan Jin, Liem Swee King and Prakash Padukone never won the WC, it didnt stop them form being great badminton players.

Icuk and Peter Ramussen won WC once but hardly any majors after that.

There is a change of emphasis from next year onwards. IBF wants the SS to be taken seriously so that Badminton can grow in popularity and who would you predict to see in the finals of most of the SS (including the 4 major ones) next year?

LCW would be feautured in most of them.

Ya exactly like you said IF.

I admire your optimism and patience.:) (natural one):D

p.s. Thank you in admitting LCW is better.;)

almost all (except all england) of tournaments won by datuk is not major tournaments. and like wat u said, runner-up in olympic and asian games.
ss finale was not attended by top shuttlers, whats de point?
rashid also won mas open, remember he was de ogirinal village champion.

remember, rashid on his day can beat anyone in malaysia including ardy, and even de great zhao jianhua.
datuk lost to sony during world championship in KL. i'm sure rashid can become world champion if only BAM host world championship last time.
