    hahahahahahahahaha...... truly a balancing act...;)

There are some others like the 'Terminator' version as well. And some not so politically correct pictures. Very creative indeed.

    Badminton heroes unheralded
By: Opalyn Mok (Wed, 03 Sep 2008)

    newsdesk@thesundaily.com

GEORGE TOWN (Sept 03, 2008) : While national shuttler Datuk Lee Chong Wei was heaped with praises and accolades for winning the silver medal in the Olympics singles, two badminton heroes who won gold in an international doubles event were "ignored and forgotten".

One of them, Thomas Teh, 40, told theSun that he and his partner, Yeo Kok Fang, 32, won the men’s doubles gold medal in the Germany 2007 Second World Deaf Badminton Championship.

"We were surprised and disappointed that when we returned with gold medals in September last year, no government officials were there to welcome our team home," he said.

Only representatives from the Malaysian Sports Federation of the Deaf and a few friends were at KL International Airport to welcome and congratulate them.

"We won gold for the first time in the history of Malaysian badminton in a world badminton event, yet no government officials were there to welcome us," he said. They also did not receive any official congratulatory message or letter.

Teh said they trained hard for the event and had aimed for gold. "We wanted to do Malaysia proud but it seems that our efforts went unnoticed," he said, adding that this non-response by the government showed there is a clear discrimination against the hearing-impaired.

He said their win showed that even though they are hearing-impaired, they could still do the country proud and the least that the government could do is to acknowledge this.

Teh and Yeo had trained for three weeks at the Kampung Pandan Sports Complex in September last year before heading to Germany.

Yeo (left), coach Nor Kamal and Teh ... ‘it seems efforts went
    unnoticed’.

    They really deserves the credit.

But timing is wrong. They should win the Gold medal some where in Mac 2008 (BEFORE 08/03/2008) or August 2008 (b4 26/08/2008), then for sure they got rewards and respect by the authority. Maybe they will get their Tan Sri-Ship for winning the gold medal. (Case study: LCW get his Datuk-ship when he successfully win on that super important silver medal in Beijing)

    Adopt ‘Sendiri Boleh’ attitude

iCapital urges Malaysians to focus and stay on course no matter the odds
    [IMG]
CAN you still recall the time when Datuk Nicol David became the world’s number 1 woman squash player last year?
After a long time, there were for once really solid reasons to feature in a prominent manner the achievements of a Malaysian.
iCapital salutes the achievements of Nicol David. To be a world champion in any endeavour is a Herculean task.To be a world champion the way David did and in a country like Malaysia where precious incentives are given to the wrong sports and people makes her achievements even more remarkable.
[IMG] Nicol David is a classic example of 'Sendiri Boleh'. - Filepic
The mass media has termed her achievements as an example of Malaysia Boleh. This is highly misleading and totally unfair to David.
Actually, the faster we get away from this ludicrous farce of Malaysia Boleh, the better it will be for the nation.
David is a classic example of Sendiri Boleh. The message for all Malaysians from her success has to be Sendiri Boleh. If all Malaysians can be Sendiri Boleh, we would have a decent chance of getting Malaysia Boleh.
iCapital hopes that the new mantra from our Government is Sendiri Boleh. Sendiri Boleh simply means to rely on one’s self no matter how difficult it may be. Malaysia Boleh means to rely on the Government (the greater the reliance, the better it is).
Sendiri Boleh simply means one needs to be resourceful in order to overcome challenges and problems.
Malaysia Boleh means running away from really solving the problems by taking short-term measures or what is still a legacy common to Malaysians, by self-denial.
Sendiri Boleh simply means that if you do not succeed, there is no one to turn to but yourself. On the other hand, Malaysia Boleh just means Malaysia Tolong.
Sendiri Boleh means one has to focus and stay on course whatever the odds or challenges may be.
Not all Malaysians can be world champions. But we can make all Malaysians follow the Sendiri Boleh mindset of Nicol David.
Our challenge is how can we transform the mindsets of all Malaysians from Malaysia Boleh (or what is closer to the truth, Malaysia Tak Boleh) to Sendiri Boleh.
Everywhere we go, everyone we talk to, there is only doom and gloom over Malaysia’s future. The list of our illnesses and symptoms is long. It can be so utterly depressing.
This week’s article is short but not sweet. iCapital has, since years ago, written plenty of articles and analysis on how Malaysia’s transformation can be achieved.
It has written on why it needs to be done and what the consequences will be if we do not transform and adapt.
Our hands are tired of writing on something that few politicians and policymakers are bothered with.
Our minds are exhausted from thinking of something that is so filled with heartfelt helplessness. Our hearts bleed for Malaysia.

In this *lovely* country of ours, often we hv no choice to 'sendiri boleh'...
Especially for those so-called 'penumpang' in this country...
If we don't strive for the best by ourselves, do you expect us to survive in this sort of *lovely* country !?

    Ahmad elusive after racist talk

GEORGE TOWN: Former senator Datuk Ahmad Ismail (pic) has become an elusive man.
Since allegedly uttering seditious remarks at a ceramah on the eve of the Permatang Pauh by-election, the Bukit Bendera Umno chief is nowhere to be found.
Police, who are investigating five police reports lodged against him in George Town, Bukit Mertajam, Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya over the past week over the offensive remark, are still waiting for him to turn up to give his statement.
Ahmad is currently being investigated under the Sedition Act for labelling Chinese as “immigrants” who do not deserve equal rights in the country.
State deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm I Datuk Salleh Mat Rasid said an investigating officer had contacted him early this week, asking him to turn up at the Bukit Mertajam district police headquarters on Tuesday.
“But he never turned up and the interview was rescheduled.
“Once Ahmad gives his statement, we will wrap our investigations by Friday as most of the statements have been taken. The file will then be sent to the Attorney-General in Putrajaya for further action,” he said.
Even Ahmad’s personal assistant and state Umno leaders are having difficulty trying to reach him.
The assistant, who did not want to be identified, said Ahmad returned from Bangkok on Aug 31 after leading a team to a sepak takraw tournament there.
“I have been trying to contact him since but there was no response. Even his voice mail is full. I think he does not want to be disturbed and thus we should leave him alone,” said the assistant.
A visit by The Star to his house in Taman Robina in Butterworth showed that his luxury bungalow, complete with a swimming pool, had been torn down. Letters were left uncollected in the letterbox.
It is learnt that Ahmad and his family are now staying at a penthouse in a guarded condominium in Tanjong Tokong, pending the construction of his new bungalow.
Bukit Mertajam Umno division chief Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir said several state Umno leaders had attempted to contact Ahmad to find out what actually transpired.
“We want to know the truth as we believe his remark was taken out of context. It is best that we hear his side of the story,” said Musa.

reading all postings was sad for me. to see malaysians berating their own country. like a son who tells everyone what a bad father he has and highlight all his father's weaknesses for the mass to join in the prosecution. forgetting that his father plays a part in his existance. without his father, would he even be here? where is his loyalty to his family? if there are things to work out in the family, shouldn't the family discuss and sort things out internally of should they really wash their dirty linen in public?

so many malaysians highlights the many bad things happening in malaysia. it seems that these things only occur in malaysia. no dirty politics in other countries? no scandals in other countries? no guiness world record for many silly things in other countries? no bribes in other countries? no racists sentiments in other countries? no investment in mega structures in other countries? but alas, when people say that these things happens in other countries as well be it developing countries or even developed countries, it is pointed out that these other countries have so many achievements that they can be proud of but malaysia has none.

pemuda has once compared malaysia with korea. how this country have leap frogged malaysia in terms of development. i think what this country have that made them a success story now is national pride. and it is easier for them because they are of one race. like japan, who after a devastating tragedy of the atomic bomb depended on their unity, national pride and sheer hard work to be where they are today. national pride and unity aided by the fact that they all share the same language, the same culture, the same beliefs. they dont move overseas after their studies to contribute to other countries. they went back to korea and together through thick and thin, develop korea into the way it is today. pride and lots of it. wanting to make their country a country that people will respect. and thus they work hard and after the initial hard times and sacrifice, they are now a successful country. who still use their national language with pride and only recently turn to english to broaden their opportunities just like japan did. but all in all, they still use their national language with pride and try to market their culture and language rather than take in other cultures. an interesting fact, they sent a space traveler too just like malaysia :

    http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/02/22/asia/kimchi.php

and they are taking kimchi with them to space. because kimchi is part of being korean and they are proud of it.

malaysia on the other hand are unique in the sense that she embrace the difference in culture and race. when any immigrant goes to a new country, do they stick to their own language and not assimilate with the original citizen of that country? when chinese go to america, they learn english and they learn the history of the country in order to be the citizen. they follow the american way. yes they still retain their culture which the american embrace but i dont see the chinese having their own school that teaches in chinese language in america. why is that? because they know they have to follow the ways of the original citizens in order to fit in. malaysians who went to australia, america and britain, do they set up a malaysian school there? i dont think so. but here in malaysia, the chinese and the indians, who history shows are people who are not part of tanah melayu but are brought in by the british during the colonization are given free citizenship and are given the opportunity to share the riches of this land. if you are talking about the poor, the indians are not the only one, malays and chinese have poor people too. if you are talking about scholars, all races have them. name me one race in malaysia who never had a scholar among them. every race have an opportunity to study to the highest level.

if you are talking about one malaysia where we are all malaysian and not divided by race, then the very basic is that we share one language and we share the same education like many other countries who also have immigrants in their midst. but we dont. the chinese have their school with different sylybus and tought their students in chinese and we have the same story with indians. when there are still chinese and indians in this country who cannot speak malay properly, and when there are still different ways of educating our young generation, when will we ever achieve unity enough to be fully malaysians? when will we understand each other enough? when will we have the kind of national pride the other countries have? in malaysia now, still, people are doing whatever they can to help their own race. without national pride what are we? strangers living on the same land where i stick to my kind and you stick to yours.

our brightest students dont even have the responsibility to come back home and develop this country and this is not only the chinese and indians but even malays. coming home from other countries where they see all the good things and forgot the bad, they compare those countries with their own. and with their educated mind, they "see" that malaysia have nothing to be proud of compared to the places where they gained their knowledge. and with their educated mind decided that, it would be better for them to ply their trade overseas for better pay and better life. leaving their family and heritage behind. coming home to malaysia once in a while to "visit". rather than work overseas to gain the technology with intent to bring these technologies back home to malaysia, they simply cut all ties. some even apply for citizenship and happy to not be malaysians anymore. no regrets. after all, malaysia is nothing in their eyes except the place where they were born. they got nothing here. they face hardship. they face obstacles every step of the way. no scholarships, no business opportunities, they feel like they are worth more than this country. not willing to sacrifice like the japanese and the koreans, our best and brightest choose to leave.

nobody seems to mention the peace we have in this country. we dont have bloodshed on regular basis. we all have different religions and are free to practice them without fear. if we want to set up a business we can do so. and for a country who basically have no national unity, we are a wonder. instead we focus on the bad things only. where anywhere else a country would still be proud of an olympic silver, we berate the lost of a gold medal that we condescendingly assume should be ours because we have spent lots money on developing the athletes. neglecting to take in the fact that other countries spend a lot of money on their athletes too and that nothing is set in stone in sports. champions have lost many times before and underdogs have won many times before too. but here in malaysia, you either win or you are not worth our support. again, a blatant show of how non existant our national pride is.

for all the bad things in malaysia there are good things too. but we only seem to see the bad and somewhat refusing to see any good at all. and not willing to sacrifice for this country, not willing to assimilate, not willing to embrace one identity, one language, one education system, we judge. we critisize. we mock. we even tell other people proudly how bad our country is. and of course other people follow our lead and stomp on our country's pride too since it is obvious we do not value this pride at all. i dont think i will ever see an indonesian do as some malaysians do. even those who work outside of indonesian have so much pride for their country.

so really the question is, what have we done for this country? what? have we sacrificed our individual identity and embrace total unity? are we willing? are we willing to have only one education system and have only one national language that everybody can speak fluently? as indonesians, no matter what race they are, can speak indonesian and some even only speak indonesian and cannot speak their mother tongue. are we willing to work for peanuts in our country in order to develop technologies that will make malaysia a contender in the world? are we willing to face the obtacles that is stupid bad politics (that, again, can be found everywhere in the world) and rise above it as a nation? we can be better but everybody must pitch in. change ourselves first before we ask other people to change. if we can't make these sacrifices, why are we so condescending? we act like this country owe us something and not the other way around. what saddens me more is how other people are seeing this country now. and who showed them this image? i guess we dont need enemies as we can do it ourselves right? lets destroy the country ourselves then. lets start with racial sentiments and go from there. lets take down the bloody politicians and in the process take down the country too. it is a small price to pay for our need to have squeaky clean politicians who have no agenda on their own and have no desire for power at all, and who will never make mistakes. good luck finding one though because in reality, there is no such thing as a squeaky clean politician with no personal agenda of their own. and if you think there are, you are seriously kidding yourself. lets invite super powers to interfere. maybe they will take us under their wings and "teach" us to be better. heck, just let them take over the country. obviously they know better than us. let them lead us then. lets go back to the days before independence is ours. it is easier right? let other people decide for us so that we dont have to think. we just do what we're told. how about that?

i guess educated does not necessarily mean wise. seeing the big picture is important. i wonder when we will get to that level. because i believe that when we do, we will be able to challenge the development rate of other successful asian countries like korea and japan. and maybe then, malaysians will have national pride. for now, sadly, there's none in sight.

Maturity is important. Transparency is important for the government to succeed. If things are done without people knowing, then this is where we see lots of issues. That's why now the new state government dig up a lot of unjustified items. Let merit rules.;)
