The commentator (Steen) noted that her serve is technically incorrect and inconsistent because she lets the shuttle fall too much before hitting it, instead of hitting it out of the hand.

And definitely ridiculous that her opponents never once took advantage of her flick serves. Every single time they seemed surprised by it and had trouble going back to hit it. Take the last few points of G2 for example, the Japanese pair hit into the net on every single service return. Why didn't Park JooBong say something to his players?!

Looks like the short serve was less important than we thought!

Depends on the opponents! Chris also won a number of points on his flickserve.

ZS punished almost every single flick serve from Gabby today. I think Gabby managed 1 out of 3 low serve attempts which is hilarious for a top player. I saw quite a few bad serves in the MS final too, and the game was won from a service return kill on a loose serve

Both Gabby and Misaki will have to go home and practice 1000 serves a day in the new year until they get it right...

Although not as bad as Lim KimWah and remember Cheng WenHsing?

Watching both of them serve is like watching an accident happen in slow motion...

I think that Goh V Shem has an awesome serve. It just let him down in that one moment

Agreed! Although both players were clearly nervous with the added pressure of trying to win their first Super Series championships, in my opinion there is no excuse for such low quality serves at the pro level.

Malaysia could've won, they could've had a gold medal for once. And I'm saying this as a China fan.
