..okay, i know the M'sia Open SS is still going on and since i'm bored to death cos there are no new pics and reviews/reports of the M'sia Open to see and read, and since the T&UC Qualifiying Rds will commence in a few weeks, let's discuss or make our predictions on which countries will advance to the Final Rd. 12 teams will be representing.

    - China is automatically in because they are the defending champs.
    - M'sia is automatically in because they are the host.

Now, how about the rest? Here are my prognostications for the Thomas Cup qualifiers:
    Asia (3) - INA, KOR & JPN
Europe (3) - DEN, ENG, GER
    Oceania (1) - New Zealand
    Africa (1) - South Africa?
PanAm (1) - It'll be either USA or CAN
1 lucky spot from either EUR or ASIA region (Higher ranked team between the next highest ranked teams from Asia and Europe based on the Ranking method as stated in Regulation 3.4.5) - THA, long shot HK

Here are my prognostications for the Uber Cup qualifiers:
Asia - JPN, KOR & INA
    Europe - DEN, NED, GER
    Oceania - New Zealand
    Africa - South Africa?
PanAm - It'll be either USA or CAN
1 lucky spot from either EUR or ASIA region (Higher ranked team between the next highest ranked teams from Asia and Europe based on the Ranking method as stated in Regulation 3.4.5) - HK, long shot India

    * See below thread for updated team ranking:
    http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79693

    *3.4.5
    Seeding:
3.4.5.1 The participating teams will be seeded based on the overall strength of the team.
3.4.5.2 The overall strength of the team will be determined based on the World Ranking list as stated in the date lines in Annexure I.
3.4.5.3 Total ranking points of highest ranked three singles players and two doubles pairs from each country shall be compared to determine the overall strength of the team. Where no world ranking is available the ranking points will be taken as zero.
3.4.5.4 On such determination, all the teams will be ranked in their order of strength.

..agree or disagree? let's hear 'em..

Canada will definately represent the PanAm region on the men's side.
For the women, Canada's depth of players should surpass the American women.

    Dear Sirs/ Madam

Re: SCG Thomas and Uber Cups Preliminaries 2010

The Badminton Asia Confederation would like to invite you to participate in the Thomas and Uber Cups Preliminaries 2010 from 22nd to 28th February 2010 at Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.. This is the qualifying event for the 2010 Thomas and Uber Cups Finals schedule from 9th to 16th May 2010 to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Asia has been awarded 7 places for both Thomas and Uber Cups Finals. This means that BAC has to nominate 4 teams for Thomas Cup (China as the holder of the Cup and Malaysia as the host will automatically qualify) and 3 teams for the Uber Cup (China as the holder of the Cup and Malaysia as the host will automatically qualify).

The Badminton Asia Confederation invites all BAC member associations to compete for this event. Enclosed is the general information, team nomination forms by country and team nomination forms by names.

Regards and looking forward to your team’s participation.

Based on form and results, the Thomas Cup qualifiers from Asia have to be INA, KOR, JPN, and THA.
