There is no equivalent tournament for all continents. Would be unfair to award points for a tournament that only a minority can compete in. Continental championships exist on all continents (afaik, no idea is Africa has them).
He is, in terms of XD success, not so sure if he is of similar talent...he certainly moves a bit weird, looks a bit risky to me - he often has his knees pointed inwards, that can stress the tendons and if you slip or overdo it in some respect, puts you at risk for a tear. Quite a few female players had that happen to them, Wang Lin, Li Xuerei, that Indonesian (was it Maniputti?)...could be wrong though, maybe it's fine and not risky if you do it all the time
They should remove the '2 players per country' rule if they want to replace the BAC though, which doesn't have it afaik....does it have a 3 player limit per nation...? Either all rules and standards are the same as with the BAC, then the AG can replace them, or they're not - then it can't give ranking points. Would be massively unfair to all non-Asians, and the players that could play the BAC, but not the AG because of limitations.
Well the AsianGames itself is multiEvents so of course its nationalism, Otherwise why would Chinese most famous athlete right now ,SunYang, be angry when the flag drops? So its definitely bigger than WorldChampionship. Only Olympics is bigger than this Asia Olympic imo.
Ageee..However Her streaks of Majors Silvers is making her a historic player in the badminton history lol. Also to note she made a hatrick victory over AY like within few weeks 3 Times consecutively their H2H is 9-4
Well, looking at it from an outsider's perspective, particularly as a somewhat less nationalistic person, an event where you artifially limit the competition to a smidgen seems a few steps below the World Championships. Yes, it's a rare event, but that quantity doesn't make up for the lack of quality.
Susi susanti wasnt a Gold in AG nor was Mia Audina but they are two legends too which we still remember...I think susi won a bronze in AG if i could remember correctly IMO what makes players a legend only when they perform consistently over the years and keep wining medals at major events be it Gold or Silver. I know many of my INA friends dont like MIA cause she left INA for netherlands but her style of play reflects her INA roots which only an Indonesian could do. Wish she didnt play for NED...INA then would have had 2 Oly WS Silvers.
She has made herself a unique player in the span of 3 years 5 Major Silvers is like something I've never heard in the Womens department. I mean I know in Mens department LCW won Consecutive silvers in majors but we never had any woman singles player who would turn out to be a silver specialist. I guess now we do have a WS Major Silver Specialist !
Well, it's Asian Games. Only Asians find it bigger than any other (individual sport) world tournaments except Olympics.
I agree thats the reason so many badminton players dont even play for World Championships cause they prepare for this. Its a very tough game indeed.
