I would like to know if the grommets can be inter-changed? for example i have a arc 10 and at900 P, do i have to but 2 different models or i can used them for the same racket.
Almost all the new Yonex racquet models have a slightly different shaped frame compared to each other (the curve and frame thickness) such that the grommets won't work if they're not shaped properly for the particular racquet. AT900P for example is one racquet which has its own unique frame shape and its own grommet which cannot be shared by any other racquet (except for the AT800OF albeit, from what I found after trying). Please refer to the OP for the list of corresponding model list.
Finally Yonex does something with their grommets Was roaming around the net and found these... Looks like Yonex is finally doing something about their sunken grommets by offering continuous replacement grommets, they have both 6 holes version and 2 hole version, this is great news for racket owners, it SHOULD be much stronger than the original grommets preventing the strings from sinking into the frame.
An existing thread has already discussed this http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...2-Yonex-new-Muscle-Power-strip-style-grommets
but according to one fine bf member here, those grommets would add air resistance to your swing, it would weaken your smashes.
Lol insignificant difference lol!! According to my friend, the string feel is a wii softter with the grommets on. It does not affec the way you play.
The bottom one yes. Using the same set as the AT700 on top . Should be getting a few 3rd gens soon and will try it on those as well but should be no problem (as also made clear in post #53). Was a little confused yestrday after seeing the pic in the first post which shows a definite difference between 5th and 6th grommet and the 6-strip as well but not so for this set . Just that the grommets obstructed the picture in the package ...
Do you use any special tools to yank off the broken grommets? (Some of the grommets are quite difficult to remove despite numerous multilation with a pocket scissors and phillips screwdriver)
There is a thing called a grommet grinder. If you google the term, you should find it pretty easily. Like here: http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpage-3MMGG.html There are cheaper ones on ebay though. I myself have two, one 3mm and one 4mm.
