Actually it makes them more competitive. Would never have thought AtriRedy almost beat LiLiu there. In fact, 1 reps is enough . you have 4/5 in WC it makes you more relaxed. in AG or OG, you lose means thats it for your nation. There will be no other help.

I find it hilarious that ppl here complain about Marin’s shouting, sportsmanship and bla bla bla meanwhile the players themselves are besties in real life...

Yesterday MD Finals are one of the worst Final i have seen in a long time, if not, the worst 1st vs 2nd seed Finals ever. Even natsir with one knee having achieve everything can put more fight than that

I think Li needs to rest for Denmark and French Open to cure what is ailing him, Maybe yesterday minimum effort is still good enough to carry them for ChinaOpen (maybe thats what in their mind) . It was already evident in AsianGames, whether its his arms or wrists. No one will ever want to lift for a service return like he did unless something is wrong with his hand. These are 2 195cm beasts, no way he will do that unless he is sick. Liu didnt do that as service return.

After that "classy" performance in the final, surely they shouldn't be happy. They are the world champions.
I am glad the minions don't have their "class".:rolleyes: Minions would have fought every point till the last moment.

Li/Liu need to come up with some game plan when Li doesn't have his good game and Liu needs to work harder to cover his partner, even the coach mostly gave coaching to him in the mid game interval break. In late half of G2 both Li and Liu barely moved their feet. They have to work extra harder if they really wanted to win. No opponent would give away the match.

Have to agree that Natsir plays with more determination.
In fact, I rmb Gideon was injured as well during Dubai finals last year and yet he won it.

What I don't understand is that even with injury, they didn't change strategy.
And no determination at all to win
I wonder if China is planning to split up the pair? And partner one of them with Zhang Nan?
They need to find a pair who can match minions for Olympics

I rewatched the match. A couple of points:

    1. I noticed Chinese coach hardly talked to Junhui during any of the timeouts but spent most time talking to Yuchen. This led me to believe that the lifting to death strategy was predetermined. Now whether that is due to some physical issues of Junhui is unknown.

    2. Yuchen was clearly not on board with the strategy. This was reflected both in his in-game expressions and his post-game comments (he talked about “failed tactics”). Now was this directed at the coach or his partner I’m not sure.

It is still a mystery to me. Maybe Junhui was injured but they didn’t want to throw the match and wanted to experiment things (maybe for future benefits?). But it was clear that they (Liu Li and the coach) were not on the same page.
