Fu Haifeng actually used weight training and during his days will always smash on everything that comes to him (even more brutish than Gideon). Yet he's considered one of the best MD player ever. Another good example is Ko Sung Hyun. I think even they use a lot of brute strength and power in their play, they still have great technique. IMO, Gideon style is less powerful compared to Fu Haifeng or Ko SUng Hyun.

imo POTY is not important. Win it or Lose. They play the most exciting, expansive, artistic brand of MD ever be in history without focus on power. Its really great to watch. Kevin the 'flash' Sukamuljo is like tapping into the speed force just like the movie Justice League. Even inducing Mogensen fear at the net.
They are good but they need opponents to make this discipline more interesting. Li/Liu were blown away in the SF. It's the same during Ahsan/Setiawan's reign.
