I cannot rememeber exactly what the terms to be sponsored by Yonex are, but I think you have to be top 5 + reaching the SF of the national championships, for your age. I think Carlton has a similar policy in terms of sponsorship, Prince, I don't know why you bothered, they are too busy with tennis they don't give two bananas about badminton, Victor seem to want to sponsor everyone, and APACS are the same. (Dont know why they haven't responded yet)
Anyway enjoy Victor sponsorship, I am going to email SOTX tonight

Do you do coaching as well, because I thought SOTX only sponsor senior players who are qualified in coaching the game .

i do actually now work for SOTX UK though

    this is a direct quote

'You do not have to be an elite player to receive SOTX sponsorship. SOTX is also supporting grassroots badminton activities worldwide. If you need support as a junior player in competition, or need support to organize a local tournament, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email. SOTX also supports clubs across different levels. If you and your club members are keen SOTX fans, you can apply SOTX sponsorship as a club as well.'

The SOTX Woven 11 has similar specs to the AT700, but it is 680mm, as opposed to 675mm,

well my go to if im not tired is woven 7, but atmo im finding more and more that i go for the TL 300 680mm slight head heavy absolute weapon, the smash is better than the woven 7

diamond fighters are brill from what iv tried so far
    i have D100, D200 and D300 i have a D600 but havnt tried it yet

i got the D600 last week and just had my appendix out so im a bit gutted (quite literally) atmo

    @LD rules

i sold someone a woven 7 as a back up to their at700

he actually prefers the 7 but his arms aint strong enough yet so he starts off with 7 until hes tired

    Good news !

I emailed Victor and SOTX on Saturday night, and got a reply from Victor saying that they would be delighted to offer me sponsorship. I am really happy at the moment !
They offered me the choice of either:
A discount or a package deal

@Charliebadders, what sort of discount did you get ?
    Thanks

I have just been speaking to SOTX

due to a large number of applicants for sponsorship this year they have raised their requirements

to get SOTX sponsorship you must be in national rankings 300 or above

    Full sponsorship = ranking 1-19
    50% discount sponsorship= ranking 20-300

NOTE- SOTX UK only sponsor youth players

Scotland, Wales, England and Ireland (north & south together) are separate badminton "countries" and have their own governing bodies. They only play together for the olympics.

It depends who you want to be sponsored by. You have to have a fairly decent ranking, and be showing that you are willing and able to enter major tournaments at your age group, and being competitive in that group.

I would be fine with any badminton company :p
For rankings, do you mean provincial or national? provincial seems more acheivable since i only started playing seriosly recently.

Well, I am not really familiar with Canada Badminton, but I am presuming your location is Hamilton Ontario ? Between Niagra and Toronto, if so I have been there a few years ago :)

Anyway back to the topic, national rankings are what they will look for, but in a country the size of Canada, they will probably consider provincial rankings as well. What age group are you playing ? seniors ? Or Juniors (U19, U17, U15 etc) and what sort of achievments/where have you got to in tournaments you have played so far ? (these are questions that Sponsors will ask you)

Yup yup, Hamilton :D medium sized city, as far as i know, only one badminton club which operates out of a school.

I play U15, and so far.. nothing ): this year i'm only going to play inside the school tournies (sossa, ect), i plan on joining and playing inside OBA next year.
