Currently using: Victor Champion Yonex AS-3 Yonex AS-5 i would use the AS-3 to warm up and either the Victor or AS-5 for gameplay. I use to play with Sealion and ProKennex back in M'sia but not anymore. I also think the standard of Aeroplane has dropped tremendously. But AS-5 is definitely expensive.... but very good.
For all o you Melbourne people, I know a place in Glen Waverley that sells RSL shuttles for $15, $17, $24 and about 30 per tube depending on the type. Dunno if that's cheap or what, but if you guys are interested PM/email me, I'll give you his number.
Currently I'm Using Yonex As-30 , As10, Aeroplane , Rsl Tourney and Gosen Red. I think Yonex shuttles nowadays is not as consisten as before. Except if you buy the expensive ones. I'm not so sure.. the last time i disected a yonex cork , i found that they did put a screw inside the cork. Anyone had the same experience? Maybe for the weight. Nowadays none have been found. Gosen ,Aeroplane and Rsl Tourney , what i can say that , their flight pattern is good, consistent. But don't really last that long. Its hard to find a good cheap yet durable shuttles especially for hard hitters. Sometimes when i play , i find that the different hall conditions does have an effect on flight pattern of the shuttles. For example if i use Gosen and As-30 in almost "vacummed area" so to speak , the shuttles last longer. But if i play in Big hall or stadium , it doesn't really last that long and the shuttles moves further if i use the same amount of energy to hit compare to the much enclosed area.
What brand of shuttle do you guys use? I tried HiQua orange, and blue and they don't last very long. I just bought a tube of Victor champion and HiQua red shuttle. What shuttle do you guys use? Ben
As kuwn announced at the top in every forum, search the archives first. http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5881&highlight=shuttle There're losts of opinions in there.
thank you modious. i much prefer people to dig out and continue old thread instead of starting a new thread asking the same exact question over and over again. so i am going to merge these two threads together.
Kwun: I am sorry but when I did a search on shuttle, 100s of thread came up and most of them are irrelevant. Should I spend hours browsing through 100s of threads or should just click button and post a new one? Hmmm.... the choice is easy for me. It would be nice if the search engine allows you to search an exact phrase. Ben
benfok.. ben, try the search function first. If nothing comes up then post a question about the topic you want answers to. Basic rule to all forums around the world.
I've Used Sealion CH1130 Yonex AS-10 RSL Official RSL Silver Feather Gosen S-200 Gosen S-240 Gosen S-250 Protech 2005 ___________________________________________________________________ In The List: Good Durability Yonex AS-10 Gosen S-200 Gosen S-240 _____________________________ Good Flight RSL Official Gosen S-200 Gosen S-240 Protech 2005 Sealion CH1130(Most Of The Times A Little Fast) ______________________________ All Shuttles Is Less Than 10 USD in Malaysia. Hi, The RSL Official shuttles that I have you used don't seem to be really consistent in their durability. Sometimes, the feathers are pretty brittle and break off quite easily. Is there a particular method to store the shuttles to allow them to play better or last longer?
To most Malaysians (that I know, anyway), durability will definitely play a great role in shuttle selection. Most would settle for a cheaper but durable shuttle without thinking too much about the consistency in flight pattern, balance although those attributes are still taken into context. But then again, durability translate into flight consistency, no? Perhaps it's due to the popularity of the game here that we got a host of shuttle brands to try out and use. A lot won't bother to buy Yonex as I think it's overpriced, simply not worth it as lots of other shuttles are almost as good or better at half or lower price. At least to us weekend warriors. Some tournaments don't use Yonex anyway. Talk about luxury of choice! Btw, here are the ones I've used : ProTech (green) - average in terms of durability and flight consistency. The feather gets ruffled pretty quickly. ProTech (red) - very good in durability. Normal flight patterns. Sea Lion (red) - quick to ruffle. The feather breaks quite easily. I don't really like this one however popular it is. Yonex AS50 - I have to agree that this one flies the best. I do agree with kwun that this one feels somewhat harder and heavier. Too expensive. Super-unpopular. Yonex AS30 - Nothing special, to me, apart from the fact that the cork lasts pretty long. The feather, is a different story altogether... Carlton (yellow-black?) - This one sucks big time. Two big smashes and the shuttle will be deformed too much to fly properly. Avoid. Wilson (silver-black) - One of the worst brand of shuttles I've ever used. Two big smashes and the head CRACKS. This had been confirmed by the cracking of 24 shuttles from big smashes. AVOID like a plague! Cheap though. AcePower (blue) - now, this is perhaps the best I've ever used apart from AS50. It's durability is the longest I've known of all shuttles, not even the AS50 can last this long. Once we used one shuttle for two consecutive games and the shuttle only had badly ruffled feathers at the end of the second! The cork stays in shape without problems. My favourite; will buy more of this the next time it's my turn to provide. Not very cheap though, about RM 40 per tube. RSL Silverfeather - nothing great apart from the nice packaging. Performs very much like the red label Sea Lion. All comments came from my own experience so, read with a pinch of salt. Or oregano.
like aeroplane like aeroplanes G1130, 1101. i've sometimes noticed that the particular brand will change in quality as i guess of different factors like bird migration, weather, storage conditions, etc. i always keep my open for other options though
