wow isometric 200? how on earth did you find that in Edmonton? lmao... Which SportCheck were you at? I've been to the one In West Ed, But the best they got are like ArmorTec 150 and Yonix MP 23?
A little sportchek story i wanna share Sportchek horror stories, i have a little story of the time i overheard a worker and the stringer speaking, and it goes something like this: Worker(W): hey i thought you only knew how to string tennis racquets. Stringer(S): Yea, but tennis and badminton racquets can't be that much different, afterall badminton racquets are only thinner. W: Yea probably. S: Anyways I'll start stringing now, watch me, its gonna be the same thing as tennis racquet. W: Ok just don't break it. At this point i was like "wow someone is gonna have a !@!#ed up racquet. Then i walk along the counter where they string, and the guy does completely the wrong thing, (i saw people string at abbies and tads before) Then he started stringing, and i saw the frame warp, cause he freaken dropped the weight to like 32lbs @,@ on the first string, and he continues and then after like 20 mins i was like "hmm im guessing another 2 minutes till the frame warps so much that it breaks" and what do you know at around 1:50 secs the frame gives off a wierd sound(something between a crushing sound and a cracking sound) and i was like GAHAHHAHAHAH i knew it(poor guy got his racquet screwed up). Thats my sportchek story, so i swear never ever to go to sportchek as they won't replace your racquet with another exact same model, as they don't have any higher end racquets or other brands besides Black Knight and like Wilson and some low end Yonex racquets like an Armortec-250 and like a MP-28 @.@ or like a Cab8200 LIGHT. SO GUYS NEVER EVER !@#$EN GO TO SPORTCHEK TO STRING YOUR RACQUET OR ELSE YOU WILL BREAK MORE RACQUETS THAN DINK.

ouch, if that's true, then it's nasty .... reporting the issue to management would save a lot of other people some grief.
Doubt they would care... stringers there are primarily tennis stringers and they have more business from tennis and squash than badminton. Takes quite awhile to train badminton stringers to be good too. Sportchek simply don't have the incentive to shift focus from tennis. Do what's within your control... take your business elsewhere!
it was a nanospeed 8k i believe, and no i don't know what it got replaced by, because sportchek doesn't carry any high end racquet... Yeah guys sportchek sucks for everything.....their shuttles are overpriced their stringing sucks, racquet selection is next to none so don't go to sportchek
I agree, sportchek is ****, but I had a gift certificate so I had to go there, ended up getting a Head Nano Power 700. Hm. I bet you sportchek just tried giving him like the shittiest racket there lol.
Yeah, well Sportchek is a chain store and they need to markup their prices for operating with so many staff and in so many mall locations. You go there for accessibility to general sporting goods, not necessarily for the best price. I just don't see them carrying high end equipment for the general public. For example, you could go to Mountain CO-OP Equipment for the best camping stuff and Golf Town for better selections of golfing equipment. For the best deals in high end equipment, you need to do a little more work to find out than just a trip to the nearest mall.
Cappy the original idea is about their horrible stringing stories =p, and not about buying hi end racquets, but since you started about that, i'm going to continue for you. First off i would like to say, purchasing hi end racquets from chain stores is almost the worst idea there is, next to buying a $100 AT1000000 on eBay. But if your in GVA, some good places are tads, abbies, racquet and runners, special edition, or even impulse sports in richmond(although their prices are quite jacked up. If you know someone there they can give you a discount so great it makes it below the price of other places)
My apologies for diverting from the original topic, but you get my drift... you want good service for the minority sports you're in, you need to go to the specialists. Badminton is not big in North America, it's getting more popular but still not mainstream popular. So, in the meantime we should temper our expectation of whatever services we have access to. Unless the public demand for badminton stringing is sufficiently profitable, we shouldn't expect Sportchek to have a decent stringer on staff. We as consumers have our own rights to complain, but really, we should save our energy and money to support the businesses that cater to our sport. If we don't, those businesses will close down, and then we'll end up having to go to that bloody idiot behind the Sportchek's stringing machine for stringing. Just my two cents.
hes not a bloody idiot, hes just a bloody idiot of a badminton stringer=p, but then again its all the same =p Cappy wanna go C1 or C2 next week?
Whatever. The stringer didn't do due dilligence with his work, he shouldn't even try if he has no experience stringing badminton racquets to begin with. Thanks for the offer, XtC-604. I get enough action from VRC for now. I have dropped in at C1, C2 (courtesy of LoveJoy) and Richmond Pro before and found their drop-in sessions not really worth my time to drive down there. I will only head down to Richmond if I have private lessons.
